On November 28, Ho Chi Minh City National University announced the official decision to establish the Ho Chi Minh City National University Innovation Center.
Innovation Center leads the transfer of research results
According to the orientation, the center will play the role of connecting the "Three Houses" model: State, School, Enterprise, promoting knowledge transfer, commercializing research results and developing the innovative startup ecosystem of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.
Ho Chi Minh City National University Innovation Center is a science and technology unit under Ho Chi Minh City National University, operating in the fields of science, technology and innovation.
The Center has legal status, its own seal and account to carry out transactions in accordance with the law. The detailed regulations on organization and operation of the Center will be issued by the Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
The establishment of the center is a step to concretize the key tasks stated in Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and digital transformation; along with the announcement of Conclusion 45 of the Working Group assisting the Central Steering Committee on science, technology development and innovation.
These documents identify Ho Chi Minh City National University as one of four key universities selected as a model for implementing the "Three Houses" and the national innovation ecosystem.
In the spirit of Resolution 57, strengthening the "Three Houses" connection in the new development era with the common goal that the three parties aim for is to build an innovation ecosystem, in which universities, governments and businesses coordinate effectively and support each other to develop together.
The establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Innovation Center demonstrates the determination of the entire system in implementing the policy of "Constructive State - Leading Universities - Accompanying Enterprises".
According to Ho Chi Minh City National University, the center will be the focal point for community service activities, connecting businesses, transferring research and innovation results to the eastern creative urban area of Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region.
Add a "tractor" to the "Three Houses" model
For a long time, many research results in universities have been difficult to bring into life because of the lack of a strong enough connection to connect the real needs of businesses with the scientific capacity of universities, while at the same time attaching the responsibility of state management in coordinating the strategy of science and technology development. Many people expect this new center to be the place to fill that gap.
With the advantage of being a leading university with a rich network of institutes and schools, Ho Chi Minh City National University has the ability to create a "common ground" for three parties to meet: the State transfers support policies, businesses pose practical problems, and scientists provide solutions.
If operated in the right direction, the center can become a driving force for promoting technology commercialization, nurturing high-tech startups and enhancing innovation capacity for the entire southern region.
More than just a new unit, the center is a test for the cooperation model that Vietnam expects: universities not only do training and research, but also truly become the driving force for socio -economic development through knowledge and innovation.
