On November 27, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held its 2nd Conference for the 2024-2029 term. Attending and chairing the conference was comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
At the conference, comrade Truong Thi Bich Hanh, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that up to now, the organization of the congress has been basically completed. The Standing Committee has reported to the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on the organization of the congress and agreed on documents, personnel, program, and time of the congress.
The expected number of Committee members is 168, at the consultative congress there are 146; the Standing Committee has 9; non-professional Vice Chairmen have 7, at the consultative congress there are 6. Personnel ensures quantity, standards, structure, composition, typicality and representation.
The congress is expected to take place over 1.5 days, including November 29 and the morning of November 30 at the Binh Duong Exhibition and Convention Center (No. B11, Hung Vuong Street, Binh Duong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). The expected number of delegates is 880, including 500 official delegates and 380 invited delegates.
Before the congress, on November 28, official delegates will attend the incense and flower offering ceremony at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh ; offer incense and flowers at martyrs' cemeteries in the regions; open the photo exhibition "Vietnam Fatherland Front - The strength of great national unity"; participate in social security activities and implement the project "Great Unity Garden".
Comrade Truong Thi Bich Hanh said that, along with the preparations for the congress, the Fatherland Front system at all levels has recently focused on supporting activities for provinces damaged by consecutive storms. The City Relief Mobilization Committee has called for and set up 18 reception points at the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, socio -political organizations, the City Red Cross, and 14 stations of Metro Line 1. Along with that, it has directed and guided the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at commune, ward, and special zone levels in the city to simultaneously open reception points in the locality, proactively mobilize and promptly transport goods to people in flood-affected areas.
From November 21 to 25, the Relief Mobilization Committee received 10,000 family medicine bags, nearly 2,800 tons of essential goods with a total value of nearly 280 billion VND and promptly delivered all of them to people in Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces affected by storms and floods.
The Front system has also prepared for the organization of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term and for the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo in 2026. Immediately after the congress, the first consultation will be held to agree on the structure, composition, and number of candidates for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
At the conference, delegates will continue to discuss, give opinions and carry out the process of recognizing member organizations and negotiating and perfecting the personnel of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for the 2024-2029 term.
