The Congress of the Hanoi City Elderly Association must be completed before April 15, 2026.

On December 2, the Hanoi City Association of the Elderly organized a summary and evaluation of the implementation of two topics assigned by the city; training on the development and management of Intergenerational Self-Help Club activities; guidance on the work of the Congress to establish the Association of the Elderly at communes and wards, towards the Congress of Delegates of the Vietnamese Elderly, term 2026-2031.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Hanoi Elderly Association Nguyen The Toan said that, in carrying out the tasks assigned by the Hanoi People's Committee, the Hanoi Elderly Association has developed and implemented two topics: Topic No. 01/CD-HNCTHN "Promoting the role of the elderly in implementing a civilized and progressive lifestyle" and Topic No. 02/CD-HNCTHN on "Promoting the position, role, prestige and exemplary role of the elderly in the family and community, building elegant and civilized Hanoians" in 2025.

As a result, in Topic No. 01/CD-HNCTHN, the City Elderly Association promoted propaganda through 21,000 leaflets, focusing on mobilizing to eliminate bad customs and encourage cremation. The Association organized 3 seminars, shared models, and helped improve the effectiveness of grassroots mobilization. As a result, in 2025, the city's cremation rate reached 82%, exceeding the planned target.

In the topic No. 02/CĐ-HNCTHN, the Association also strongly deployed propaganda work by printing and distributing 21,000 leaflets, and at the same time organizing the printing of survey forms and direct surveys to collect opinions from nearly 500 elderly people.

Thematic content was effectively integrated into branch activities, club models, emulation movements "Old age - Bright example" and "Good people, Good deeds" movements. In addition, the Association organized 3 seminars to share experiences. Thereby, the elderly have promoted the role of "Tall tree, big shade", becoming the center of solidarity in families, clans and an important force in grassroots reconciliation.

In 2026, the City Elderly Association will focus on building a strong association; consolidating the organization, perfecting the staff of the grassroots Elderly Association to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period; regularly innovating content, methods and improving the quality of activities.

At the same time, the Association cares about the material and spiritual life and protects the legitimate rights of the elderly. The grassroots Association reviews the number of elderly people, coordinates the implementation of policies, promotes visits and longevity wishes, and first of all, takes care of the elderly in difficulty during the Lunar New Year 2026. In particular, the Association focuses on implementing the Elderly Health Care Plan for the period 2026-2031 and the Program "Bright Eyes for the Elderly" (2025-2028).

At the conference, comrade Nguyen The Toan also deployed instructions on organizing the Congress of delegates of the Association of the Elderly at the grassroots level, towards the Congress of delegates of the Vietnam Elderly for the 2026-2031 term. According to the instructions, the Congress of the Association of the Elderly in communes and wards in the city will be completed before February 15, 2026. Up to now, the whole city has 33 Associations that have completed the Executive Board of the Association of the Elderly in communes and wards after the merger.

Within the framework of the program, the City Elderly Association coordinated with HAI Organization to provide training on the development and management of Intergenerational Self-Help Club activities. This activity aims to improve the capacity of commune and ward Association officials and the Club Management Board in the development, management and organization of activities. From there, the quality of the club's activities is improved, contributing to the practical care of the elderly in difficult circumstances in the locality.
