Strengthening dialogue with the people

During the two days of the Congress, delegates listened to the speech of the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the direction of the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the speech of the Chairman of the City People's Committee on the city's development orientation.

The Congress also discussed the report summarizing the work of the past term, the directions, tasks and action program for the 2024-2029 term; contributed opinions to amend and supplement the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the draft Political Report of the Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, with a spirit of seriousness, democracy and responsibility.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Phan Van Mai thanked the coordination and support of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City at all levels. “The solidarity and unanimity of all classes of people have devoted their love and enthusiasm to building Ho Chi Minh City,” the Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposed that the congress discuss and give opinions on key and breakthrough tasks until the end of 2025, especially for the next term.

Delegates contribute ideas for the city's development.

Mr. Phan Van Mai also “ordered” the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City key contents. According to him, the city should have a “People’s Forum” every quarter or every month, so that people can join in giving opinions to the government. In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City actively participates in directly contributing to the city’s major projects and works such as the urban railway, Ring Road 4, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, thanked the attention of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Mr. Phan Van Mai personally. At the same time, he hoped that each year, the Chairman of the City People's Committee would arrange at least two meetings to exchange and dialogue with the Front and the people.

Big goals

At the closing session, the Organizing Committee approved the draft Resolution of the Congress, which agreed on the general direction, goals and main targets for implementation in the 2024 - 2029 term, specifically as follows:

Delegates agreed on the direction, common goals and targets for the 2024 - 2029 term.

Every year, strive for 100% of residential areas to organize the National Great Unity Day. Each residential area has at least 1 project or practical work to serve the community;

Mobilizing support for the "For the Poor" Fund to strive to reach 650 billion VND, contributing to the city's effective implementation of the sustainable poverty reduction program;

For the Fund "For the homeland's seas and islands - For the frontline of the Fatherland", the goal is to mobilize 200 billion VND, contributing with the political system to take care of the army and people in the seas, islands, border areas and the army's rear work;

Coordinate the construction of 50% or more of residential areas recognized as "Solidarity, affection, self-management" residential areas...

The Congress agreed to develop and implement 2 Projects, 1 Project, 1 Key Program, including:

Project No. 06-DA/TU dated August 20, 2021 on "Enhancing the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city and the people in supervising Party organizations, Party members; activities of the government at all levels of Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2021 - 2030"; Project "For an environmentally friendly city based on the residential community"; Program "Joining hands - For a city of love, tolerance, and development"...

In addition, delegates also agreed on action programs for the 2024-2029 term, including:

City leaders awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals with outstanding achievements in Front work in the period 2019 - 2024.

Improve the quality and effectiveness of social supervision and criticism, promote democracy, participate in Party building and government building; mobilize people of all walks of life to compete, be creative, and effectively carry out campaigns and emulation movements; improve the effectiveness of people's foreign affairs and work with overseas Vietnamese; Build residential areas of "Solidarity, affection, and self-management"...

With the spirit of "Solidarity - Democracy - Compassion - Innovation - Development", the 12th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City, term 2024 - 2029, calls on all walks of life, intellectuals, outstanding individuals of all ethnicities, religions, and overseas Vietnamese to unite and determine to successfully implement the Action Program of the Congress, contributing to building and developing a civilized, modern, and compassionate Ho Chi Minh City.

On this occasion, 7 collectives and 15 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the City People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in the work of the Front in the period 2019 - 2024.
