The meeting aimed to create a forum for information exchange and strengthen partnerships between the Embassy and Mozambican media agencies, thereby enhancing external communication efforts and promoting the countries and people of Vietnam and Mozambique to increase mutual understanding.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin expressed her gratitude for the effective cooperation of Mozambican journalists in reporting on the activities of the Embassy as well as the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Mozambique to the Mozambican people. The Ambassador briefed the journalists on Vietnam's socio -economic development in 2025, the progress of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Mozambique, and the important results of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
According to the Ambassador, Vietnam has achieved significant economic, social, and international integration successes in 2025: GDP growth for the whole year is estimated at 8.02%, placing it among the world's leading economies. The size of the economy in 2025 is estimated at US$514 billion, an increase of 5 positions, reaching 32nd place in the world; GDP per capita is expected to reach approximately US$5,026, 1.4 times higher than in 2020, placing Vietnam in the group of upper-middle-income countries.
Foreign relations and international integration have also deepened, with high-level diplomatic activities taking place very actively, yielding many impressive results. In 2025 alone, Vietnam upgraded its relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with 5 countries, a Strategic Partnership with 9 countries, and added one Comprehensive Partnership. For the first time, Vietnam has a relationship at the strategic partnership level or higher with all 5 permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, all G7 countries, and 18 out of 21 G20 members.
Regarding the outstanding results of the 14th Party Congress, the Ambassador stated that the documents of the 14th Congress are the culmination of the wisdom, will, and aspirations of the entire Party and people, reflecting innovative thinking and a strong determination for Vietnam's development in the new period. The content of the documents contains many new and groundbreaking points.
The Congress thoroughly discussed and formulated many important policies and decisions in all fields; in which it determined that: socio-economic development and environmental protection are central; Party building is key; cultural and human development is the foundation; strengthening national defense and security and promoting foreign relations and integration are crucial and ongoing; breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation are the central driving force of development.
The Ambassador expressed his sincere gratitude to the Mozambican press agencies for their active cooperation in reporting on the Congress over the past period, enabling local and international friends to better understand Vietnam's strategic development directions in the new era - the era of national progress.
Regarding bilateral relations, the Ambassador stated that 2025 marks an important milestone in Vietnam-Mozambique relations, as the two countries will hold numerous activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In 2026, the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique will continue to promote bilateral cooperation in all areas, from politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, education, agriculture, telecommunications, etc., to further deepen the cooperative and friendly relationship between Vietnam and Mozambique.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin answered many questions from local journalists, thereby providing a more comprehensive view of Vietnam and the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
