Carinthia is the southernmost and most lake-rich state in Austria, covering a total area of 9,536 km² and with a population of over 570,000. The largest lake is Wörthersee, with an area of 1,328 hectares. Located in the Alpine mountains, the state borders Slovenia and Italy and has numerous collaborative projects with Southeast European countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
With the opening of the new Carinthia railway (Koralmbahn), Austria's most important railway line, scheduled for the end of 2025, the connection between the two states of Styria and Carinthia, and its role as part of the trans-European Baltic-Adriatic transport corridor, will become even stronger. Major industries contributing over 40% to the state's GDP include: steel, manufacturing, green industries, mining, and construction.
The state's tourism industry is highly developed, closely linked to SMEs, with over 40 million overnight stays projected for 2025, particularly during the winter months. An aging population places significant demands on healthcare services, and the state prioritizes political stability and sustainable socio-economic development programs for future generations. The state boasts four major universities offering programs in engineering, education, and music.

Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang congratulated Carinthia on its development, introduced Vietnam's development goals, updated on Vietnam's reform situation, especially the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party, and expressed his desire to cooperate with the state in areas where both sides have needs such as: chemicals, mining, health, education, and circular economy .
The Premier of Carinthia, Peter Kaiser, welcomed opportunities for cooperation with Vietnam and promised to visit Vietnam as soon as possible to discuss specific areas of cooperation.

On this occasion, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang visited and worked with Treibecher Industries AG, a leading global chemical and metallurgical company headquartered in Althofen, Carinthia, Austria. Treibecher Industries AG specializes in producing high-quality chemical and metallurgical products for various industries, including: materials for manufacturing, iron alloys for steel and casting, carbide and nitride powders for hard metal production, high-grade ceramic materials, rare earth chemicals, catalysts for the oil and gas and pharmaceutical industries, etc. The company hopes the Embassy will support its cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the signing and implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two countries on mining.
The Ambassador welcomed and highly appreciated the importance of bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Austria in the mining sector, as well as between Austrian localities and businesses and Vietnamese businesses. The Embassy is ready to support and promote the signing of cooperation agreements at both government and business levels. The Ambassador emphasized that this is an opportune time to begin cooperation with Vietnam, especially since the EU and Vietnam have recently upgraded their Strategic Partnership. Both sides will continue to coordinate closely to promote cooperation in research, technology transfer, and production and business in the coming period.
