The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation with locations throughout the military.
Agencies and units reported on the results of their tasks performed in the past period, the situation on February 16th (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake), and the organization and implementation of tasks during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse 2026.
Regarding the implementation of tasks during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse 2026, the entire army will strictly maintain the command duty, duty officer, and combat readiness duty regimes; organize delegations to visit and inspect combat readiness, and extend New Year greetings to units, especially those stationed in key areas, border regions, seas, islands, remote areas, and areas inhabited by ethnic minorities; and visit, inspect, and extend New Year greetings to officers, soldiers, and people on the Truong Sa archipelago and the DK1 platform.
The units also intensified patrols and controls to prevent illegal entry and exit; launched a high-intensity campaign to combat crime, smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods during the Lunar New Year along the entire border, especially in areas with trails and unofficial crossings.

The entire army organized over 300 Tet (Lunar New Year) programs for military and civilians; ensuring full provision of material, logistical, and financial resources during Tet, prioritizing forces serving in the Truong Sa archipelago and the DK1 platform; organizing joyful, safe, and economical Spring Festival celebrations, while maintaining high combat readiness.
Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Nguyen Tan Cuong commended the achievements of officers and soldiers throughout the army and the militia and self-defense forces nationwide in 2025. He also highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and determination to overcome difficulties of officers and soldiers participating in building pontoon bridges across the Lo River and carrying out disaster prevention, rescue, and relief tasks, contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Army.

For the immediate future, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested that the focus be on organizing a joyful, healthy, safe, and economical Lunar New Year celebration for the troops in 2026, while maintaining high combat readiness; and promptly and effectively handling any situations to avoid being caught off guard or unprepared.
The military successfully coordinated the organization of the 16th National Assembly elections and the elections of People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2026-2031 term; meticulously prepared and organized the recruitment and handover of troops according to plan, ensuring quality and meeting targets; and successfully organized the "Tree Planting Festival in memory of President Ho Chi Minh," building regular, "bright, green, clean, and beautiful" agencies and units.
Emphasizing that 2026 is of special significance as the beginning of a new term, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested the entire army to continue to uphold the heroic traditions of the Army, unite as one, strive diligently, create new momentum, and successfully complete all tasks.
This morning, General Nguyen Tan Cuong and the delegation from the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense visited and offered incense and laid wreaths at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh; and offered incense in commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace historical site.
