Recalling memories of the pandemic, Dr. - Meritorious Artist Hai Phuong is still emotional. The months of having to stay at home and minimize travel made her even more grateful for the value of online connections. The female artist shared: "Thanks to the internet, I saw people overcoming difficulties together. Articles, stories, images, or paintings by artists like Le Sa Long... made me very emotional. That period of time made me remind myself not to let time pass in vain, to train myself so that when life returns to normal, I can contribute more to the city."

Meritorious Artist Hai Phuong expressed her support for Ho Chi Minh City's policy of using land plot No. 1 Ly Thai To (Vuon Lai Ward, old District 10) to build a park combined with a memorial for Covid-19 victims. She said that this place was once used as a Government Guest House managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , so she and many colleagues had the opportunity to come here to perform for foreign delegations.
According to artist Hai Phuong, this place has a large space, many large trees, creating a special beauty. "The city currently lacks parks, places for people to relax and have fun. Therefore, planning the land into a park is a very correct policy. Personally, I fully support it, because this will be a common space for people to come to rest and exercise, as a space of great value to become a 'green lung' for the community," she shared.
Memorials don't need to be big.
Regarding the idea of placing a memorial for Covid-19 victims in the park, artist Hai Phuong said that the important thing is that the scale must be in harmony with the overall space. "In my opinion, the memorial does not need to be too big. Many countries I have been to have simple but meaningful memorials. What is valuable is to keep it airy and close," the artist said. According to her, the memorial is not only for the people of Ho Chi Minh City today but also has a remembrance value for future generations. The artist emphasized: "Children in the future may not have lived in that period, but the memorial will help them understand a part of history, about the losses, efforts and resilience of the city's people."

Regarding the vision for the park and memorial for Covid-19 victims, artist Hai Phuong hopes that this place will have a sense of closeness, fit, not too big nor too small. "The important thing is that when people come, they feel comfortable, receptive, not overwhelmed or overly sad. It is a place to remember, but also to cherish life."
Covid-19 Victims Memorial: A Symbol of Unity
Conductor, Meritorious Artist Hoang Diep acknowledged, "Covid-19 is a measure and test" for each person and every relationship in society during the pandemic. Covid-19 forces people to face profound changes in life, from rearranging daily relationships, reviewing life skills to testing endurance and the ability to face adversity. Above all, the pandemic has shown the national spirit, the silent but extremely noble sacrifices of medical staff and volunteers in the journey to save lives, as well as the heavy losses that many families across the country have had to bear.
On the positive side, conductor Hoang Diep believes that Covid-19 has also created pressure forcing society to change to adapt, especially in the field of education . Online teaching and learning, which was not popular in Vietnam before, has become a mandatory solution, helping the entire industry enter a period of strong transformation. The pandemic has also forced many middle-aged people to get used to online payments, online shopping, etc., opening up a new, more flexible and modern lifestyle.
Regarding the Covid-19 victims memorial, conductor Hoang Diep sees it as a symbol of solidarity, resilience and kindness of the people of Ho Chi Minh City during the most difficult days. This is not only a place to remember the deceased, but also a reminder to future generations of a "fierce war in peacetime", where the spirit of sharing, solidarity and kindness helped the whole community overcome the storm together.
