Preserving the purity of the Vietnamese language in the classroom, especially in the classroom.
In the lecture halls of the Special Forces Officer School, where "exceptionally elite" soldiers are trained, the image of Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang has long been familiar to many students.
She's not the type of lecturer who speaks loudly, moves around a lot, or uses elaborate language. On the contrary, her calmness, precision, and subtlety in every word she uses in class are her defining characteristics.

Having received basic training in linguistics and successfully defended her doctoral thesis in 2023 (at the age of 32), Captain Le Thi Trang was assigned the role of Head of the Linguistics Department, directly teaching the subject of Text Drafting to undergraduate students of the School and the subject of Vietnamese Language to students of the Lao People's Army and the Royal Cambodian Army – a seemingly simple subject, but one that plays a crucial role in the specific training of special forces.

There, every command must be perfectly clear; every report must be detailed and coherent; and every plan and proposal must ensure absolute linguistic accuracy.
Therefore, her lesson plans are always highly appreciated by superiors and colleagues for their scientific, systematic, and practical nature. She focuses on equipping students with core competencies such as spelling, vocabulary, grammar, expression style, and the ability to construct military documents. Beyond teaching the knowledge in the curriculum, she always strives to help students gain a deeper understanding of the essence of their national language, thereby developing the habit of clear and coherent expression—essential skills for future officers.
Many students at the Special Forces Officer School, when mentioning the Literature subject, immediately remember the dedication and meticulousness of the young female doctor in each lecture. Sergeant Nguyen Si Loi, a student at Battalion 1, Special Forces Officer School, confided: “Ms. Trang’s dedication, responsibility, and patience in teaching have greatly motivated us in each lesson. Thanks to her, we write reports and draft documents more effectively and feel more confident in expressing our ideas.”

Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang always believed that teaching Vietnamese to students of the Lao People's Army and the Royal Cambodian Army was not just about imparting a foreign language, but also about sharing culture and traditions, contributing to fostering solidarity and friendship between the armies of the three countries.
Therefore, she often spends a lot of time researching the linguistic characteristics, psychology, and learning methods of each group of students to choose the most appropriate teaching method. Each lesson is designed to be visual, easy to understand, and easy to remember, incorporating real-life situations in a military environment, helping students quickly grasp vocabulary, sentence structures, and how to use them in daily communication.

In the classroom, Dr. Le Thi Trang patiently explains each small mistake made by the students, offering timely encouragement to help them become more confident when communicating in Vietnamese. Outside of class hours, she readily dedicates extra time to tutoring, guiding pronunciation, organizing exchange sessions, and practicing conversations, creating an environment where students can practice as naturally as possible.
Her dedication, openness, and responsibility not only helped students progress quickly but also left a deep impression of an exemplary and sincere Vietnamese People's Army instructor. For her, the greatest success was when each international student could communicate confidently in Vietnamese, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship between the three Indochinese countries.
It was this unwavering dedication to her profession that led the University to entrust Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang with the responsibility of Head of the Literature Department, a crucial role that demanded not only strong professional expertise but also exemplary conduct, responsibility, and the ability to provide academic guidance to young lecturers.
Striving to overcome theoretical challenges in order to improve oneself.
While the lecture halls of the Special Forces Officer School were where Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang shone as an instructor, the short-term training course on Party and political work at the Political Academy was a testing ground for her capabilities as a student. As one of the youngest students in the class, and coming from a purely literary background, Captain Le Thi Trang inevitably felt challenged when she began to approach the vast, multi-layered system of political theory that demanded a very high degree of accuracy.
Recalling her early days at the academy, Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang confided: “I was really worried. The concepts, categories, principles, and laws of Marxism-Leninism; the profound content and viewpoints of the Party, the State; the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense; and leadership and management skills… everything was new to me.” But then, with her serious study habits and the composure of a lecturer at the Special Forces school, she quickly found a suitable learning method: carefully reading the lecture content before class; taking notes using mind maps; boldly exchanging ideas with lecturers; engaging in in-depth discussions with study groups; and especially not allowing herself to “skip” any content she didn’t understand.
Thanks to her perseverance, Le Thi Trang quickly became one of the most enthusiastic and active students. Her answers in discussions were often insightful, closely linking theory and practice, demonstrating the analytical thinking honed from her linguistics major. Her tests and exams consistently received above-average scores, a result that accurately reflects the persistent efforts and progressive spirit of this young doctor.
Colonel Luu Canh Toan, Class Leader of Class 1B, System 4, Political Academy, commented: “Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang excels in every subject she studies. Her strong language skills enable her to present issues incisively and logically. The more she studies, the more noticeable her progress becomes.” This progress is not only reflected in her exam scores but also in her confidence when presenting, debating, and applying her knowledge to analyze practical situations in Party and political work at the grassroots level.

Despite achieving many encouraging academic and training results, Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang always maintains humility. She always believes that she still needs to actively study and train more to meet the increasingly high demands of education and training in the Army. For her, learning is not about "achieving results," but about enriching her thinking, broadening her horizons, and improving the quality of each lecture she will deliver later at the Special Forces Officer School.
When asked about her plans after the course, Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang shared: “I want to use the theoretical knowledge I have learned to further improve the quality of textbook compilation, especially lessons on the style of political discourse, and skills in drafting leadership and command documents. A Vietnamese language lecturer who deeply understands political theory will deliver more comprehensive lectures, better connecting thinking and language.”
Captain, Dr. Le Thi Trang still has a long road ahead in her military career. From the simple things she strives for each day—attending classes on time, diligently refining every word, seriously studying theory, and diligently cultivating herself—we believe she will continue to shine on her path.
