Ensuring textbook supply for the new school year

To ensure textbooks for students and teachers in the new school year 2025-2026, the Department of Education and Training of Son La has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue leadership documents and direct the completion of textbook selection; coordinate with publishers and copyright owners to provide enough textbooks for teachers and students.

This year, the Department of Education and Training has prepared textbooks for publication very early. Since February 2025, the Department has organized a Conference on textbook publication; requested publishers and copyright owners to direct and organize implementation to ensure timely supply, avoiding delays, shortages, and asynchronous textbooks for general education institutions, teachers, and students in the province.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, Deputy Director of Education and Training, informed: The Department has compiled the number of students by grade from educational institutions, and sent it to publishers and authorized book distributors to carefully prepare the number of each book for each dealer by region. The Department also issued a document requesting educational institutions to coordinate and agree with partner units, choosing a distribution method that ensures flexibility and convenience for schools, parents, and students to buy books.

According to Decision No. 744/QD-UBND dated April 3, 2025 on approving the list of textbooks used in general schools in Son La province in the 2025-2026 school year, 338 textbook titles for primary, secondary and high schools will be used; belonging to 4 units holding copyrights for textbooks, including: Vietnam Publishing Investment and Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company; Vietnam Electronic Books and Learning Materials Development Investment Joint Stock Company; Vietnam Education Publishing House One Member Co., Ltd.; Vietnam Education Solutions Co., Ltd.

In order to implement current legal regulations on the distribution of textbooks and ensure the stability of the textbook market in Son La province, avoid the situation of cross-border distribution, fake books, lack of books, selling at the wrong price or "textbook fever" before the new school year 2025 - 2026, the units holding copyrights of textbooks approved by the Provincial People's Committee have authorized Tay Bac Book and Equipment Trading Services Joint Stock Company to be responsible for distributing textbooks for the new school year in the province.

Tay Bac Book and Equipment Trading Services Joint Stock Company currently owns a system of 4 bookstores and 39 agents in the whole province. To ensure the rights of teachers, parents and students and maintain stability in the distribution of textbooks, prevent the distribution of illegal books and fake books, books that do not ensure quality, the Company commits to providing and distributing textbooks "timely, synchronously, with quality, conveniently and at the right price" to serve schools, teachers and students in the province, through the following methods: Ordering and supplying directly to schools; ordering and supplying through the Company's agent system; selling directly at the Company's retail stores.

Mr. Le Hai San, Director of Tay Bac Book and Equipment Trading Services Joint Stock Company, said: As the only unit in the province authorized by publishers and copyright holders to publish textbooks for the 2025-2026 school year in the province, the unit has currently supplied books to agents across the province to sell directly to students. Along with that, the Company has delivered textbooks to 67/132 schools that ordered books from the unit, the remaining schools are continuing to deliver in July and early August. Up to now, the Company has imported 1.67 million copies of textbooks and has proactively implemented a plan to distribute books to stores, agents, and educational institutions across the province, ensuring that books reach students promptly and fully before the new school year.
