On May 24, during a visit to India, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that negotiations regarding the conflict in Iran had made significant progress, but the final outcome was not yet complete.
Rubio added that the U.S. and Gulf states have made progress toward an agreement that could reopen the Strait of Hormuz and address concerns about Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Rubio said an announcement regarding an agreement to end hostilities with Iran could be made by the end of the day on May 24 (local time).
However, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported that disagreements remain on some terms and stressed that there will be no final agreement if the US continues to obstruct it. Tehran also stated that its top priority is ending the threat of new attacks from the US and addressing issues related to the blockade and sanctions.
