Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery is the resting place of 1,854 martyrs and a mass grave of martyrs from all provinces and cities across the country, including nearly 100 martyrs who are the elite children of Son La province who fought and sacrificed their lives in the war to protect the northern border in 1979 - 1989.
The cemetery began construction in 1990 and has recently been upgraded and expanded to more than 10 hectares, becoming a majestic and solemn memorial.
Before the souls of the heroic martyrs, the war veterans offered incense and flowers to commemorate and express their infinite gratitude, remembering the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who fought bravely and sacrificed their youth to protect every inch of land and the sacred border of the Fatherland.
Immediately after the incense offering and flower offering ceremony to commemorate the heroic martyrs, the war veterans visited the Vi Xuyen battlefield and reviewed the glorious tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the war to protect the northern border.
This is a meaningful activity to commemorate and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.
