On December 2, Quang Ngai Province Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital announced that the hospital had just saved the life of a pregnant woman with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.
Previously, on November 29, a team of doctors from the Quang Ngai Province Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital provided free medical examinations at Tinh Phong Medical Station, Tho Phong Commune. At around 8:30 a.m., a female patient was brought in by her family in critical condition, with a rapid pulse of 110 beats/minute, blood pressure dropping to 80/40 mmHg, pale skin and mucous membranes, slow reflexes, and signs of drowsiness.
Noticing the abnormality, doctors immediately performed an ultrasound and diagnosed the patient with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, a condition that can be life-threatening.

Doctors focused highly, urgently diagnosing the patient's critical condition.
The medical team raised the alarm and contacted the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital to dispatch an ambulance to receive the patient. On the way to the hospital, the patient's condition worsened. Upon arrival at the hospital, his pulse and blood pressure were both zero, forcing the hospital to activate the red alert for the entire hospital, mobilizing the Obstetrics, Pediatrics and Anesthesia teams to prepare for surgery and emergency blood supply.
After about 9 hours, the surgery was urgently performed. After nearly 60 minutes of effort, the doctors controlled the bleeding, transfused blood and finished the surgery safely. The patient was awake after the surgery and continued to be monitored and given special care.

Doctor Sau checks the pregnant woman's health after surgery.
Dr. Nguyen Van Sau said the patient lost about 2 liters of blood. Compared to his weight, the amount of blood lost accounted for more than half of the body's blood.
"If only one beat was slow, the patient might not have survived. The total amount of blood transfused was 4 units of packed red blood cells and 2 units of Plasma. The patient's health is now stable, he can eat porridge and is continuing to receive treatment and care at the hospital," said Dr. Sau. At the same time, it is recommended that pregnant women go to specialized medical facilities for regular check-ups, to determine the location of the fetus and promptly detect abnormalities during pregnancy.
Early screening helps prevent dangerous complications such as ectopic pregnancy, while ensuring the safety of both mother and baby.
