Authorities are searching for a fishing vessel with eight fishermen on board that lost contact at sea.

On the morning of January 14th, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Khanh Hoa province confirmed that a local fishing vessel, numbered KH 90026 TS, had lost contact since January 9th while operating at sea.

The fishing vessel KH 90026 TS, engaged in gillnet fishing, has 8 crew members on board. The owner and captain is Mr. Pham Van Bong (residing in Ha Ra area, Bac Nha Trang ward). The vessel departed at 9:28 AM on January 7th from the Da Nong Border Guard Control Station ( Dak Lak province).

While en route to fishing grounds, the fishing vessel lost contact with its tracking device. According to data, the vessel's last recorded position was at 1:45 AM on January 9th, at coordinates 12°40'55"N – 110°01'03"E, in the waters bordering Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces. At that time, the vessel was traveling at approximately 2 nautical miles per hour, with winds reaching force 8 and complex weather conditions.

To date, the Fishing Vessel Monitoring Unit of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Fisheries and Marine Affairs Sub-Department has been unable to contact the captain of the fishing vessel KH 90026 TS. Given this situation, the Sub-Department has requested relevant agencies to urgently coordinate and implement search and rescue measures for the fishing vessel and its crew.

Authorities also called on vessels and fishing boats operating in nearby waters to increase vigilance and proactively assist in the search if they detect any signs related to the fishing vessel KH 90026 TS.
