Singer Elton John reveals his deep and lasting bond with gold

(NLDO)- The new documentary "Touched by gold" depicts the timeless influence of gold throughout Elton John's illustrious career.

The World Gold Council has officially launched a new documentary film, "Touched by Gold", an emotional journey exploring the enduring impact of gold on culture, creativity and society, told through the voice and inspiring life stories of legendary singer Elton John.

The documentary "Touched by Gold" explores Elton John's deep and enduring connection with gold, revealing never-before-seen personal details and how gold inspired his art, music and unique personality.

Throughout the film, Elton John recounts his memories and deeply personal relationship with gold, which he has developed over the years, giving audiences a unique insight into his life and illustrious career. From his legendary stage costumes to his iconic accessories, Elton John’s story is woven with the shimmer of gold – a timeless symbol of his identity and performance style.

Touched by Gold is not just a film about fashion or dazzling performances, but also opens a new perspective on the important but little-known role of gold in modern medicine and science. The film shows that gold not only has a symbolic meaning in Elton John's life, but is also closely associated with him in a very real way - as a key component in the pacemaker device - technology that he has relied on since having it installed in his body in 1999. The film also highlights the role of gold in developing HIV testing technologies - an area that Elton has a special interest in through the work of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Founded by Elton in 1992, the Elton John AIDS Foundation has raised more than $650 million to expand access to healthcare, eliminate HIV-related stigma and contribute towards the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic.

The film is directed by Grierson Award-winning and BAFTA-nominated Toby Trackman and produced by Pioneer Productions.
