Reassessment of natural forest area affected by construction of 500kV Monsoon line

Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Power Project Management Board 2 (the investor) to find solutions to overcome the situation of soil collapsing outside the boundary of the pier foundations. There are solutions to deal with temporary road areas at risk of landslides, avoiding affecting trees outside the boundary of the temporary road area; speeding up the construction progress and promptly restoring the affected forest area.

Request the People's Committee of Nam Giang district to direct the relevant agencies to inspect and re-evaluate the entire area of natural forest land affected by the construction of temporary roads and project foundations based on actual site conditions, compare with approved documents and report to the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for monitoring and direction.

It is known that the 500kV Monsoon - Thanh My transmission line project has been permitted by the Government to impact natural forests to build some temporary works; the Provincial People's Committee has Decision No. 2106 approving the impact and restoration plan for the natural forest area affected when building temporary roads to serve the project construction.

On February 26, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 398 approving the plan to adjust a number of routes that impact natural forests to build temporary roads for construction; including adjusting 17 routes with natural forests.

The total area of natural forest affected by the entire project after adjustment is nearly 3.7 hectares/41 temporary roads/4 communes: La Dee, Cha Val, Ta Bhing and Ta Po (reducing 5 routes and reducing more than 0.3 hectares of affected natural forest compared to the original). The total output of salvaged wood is about 576.4m3.

According to the inspection report on the construction of the 500kV Monsoon - Thanh My transmission line project by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are a total of 55 pier foundation locations in 4 communes, of which 52 pier foundation locations have been completed. Total forest products after exploitation: wood volume of more than 868.2m ³ .

Regarding construction of public roads: there are a total of 41 temporary roads with natural forests under the project, currently 40 temporary roads with natural forests have been completed. The construction unit of the temporary road DTC3 deviated from the route, the total number of trees cut was 18, with a volume of more than 1.2m ³ .

The La De Commune Monitoring Team coordinated with the Nam Giang Forest Protection Department to prepare a file for handling. The construction unit of the temporary road DTC4 cut 28 trees outside the tree marking sheet; of which 21 trees fell, 7 trees were within the boundary of the route but did not have a tree marking sheet.
