The 2026 Car of the Year award event is organized by OTV Media Joint Stock Company in collaboration with the Otofun Community Management Board. This year's program announces five awards based on distinct criteria and usage values, clearly reflecting the diversity of the market and the increasingly differentiated needs of consumers.
The scoring process consists of two stages. The first stage involves voting across nine segments, with 50% of the votes coming from the community and 50% from the judges. In the second stage, the judging panel scores based on six criteria: selling price and resale value, operating costs, durability and reliability, safety, design and comfort, and operational capabilities and technology.
VinFast Limo Green wins the 2026 Car of the Year award with a triple win.
One change for the 2026 season is that the program will no longer award a single Car of the Year title, but will instead distribute five titles across different categories. According to the organizers, this approach reflects the increasingly polarized market, as the demand for family cars, service vehicles, electric vehicles, and hybrid vehicles becomes more diverse.
This year also marks the first time consumers have been able to rate car models using the same criteria as the judging panel. This approach aims to acknowledge feedback from the user community alongside the professional scoring results.
At the awards ceremony, the VinFast Limo Green was awarded the title of Service Vehicle of the Year, and was also honored in two other categories: Electric Vehicle of the Year and Promising Vehicle. According to the organizers, the fact that this model appeared in multiple categories reflects its suitability to various criteria, from service models to electrification trends.
The title of "Family Car of the Year 2026" goes to the Subaru Forester.
In the family car category, the Subaru Forester is chosen based on criteria related to usable space, safety, and durability—factors often prioritized by families for long-term use.
The title of Hybrid Car of the Year (gasoline-electric hybrid) goes to the Honda HR-V e:HEV RS, representing the trend of fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles that balance performance and reduced emissions.
Alongside the awards selected by the judging panel, the program also announced 9 most popular vehicle titles in each segment, based on the voting results of the user community. Specifically, the Ford Ranger XL/XLS 2.0/XLS+ was chosen as the most versatile pickup truck of the year, while the Ford Ranger Stormtrak led the stylish pickup truck segment.

In the ride-hailing vehicle category, the VinFast VF5 was voted the best in the 5-seater segment, while the VinFast Limo Green continued to be a popular choice among users in the 7-seater segment.
In the family car segment, the Honda City G leads the sub-500 million VND segment; the VinFast VF7 Eco is in the sub-750 million VND segment; the Honda HR-V e:HEV RS is in the sub-one billion VND segment; the Subaru Forester is in the sub-1.5 billion VND segment; and the Volkswagen Viloran Premium is in the sub-2 billion VND segment.
The Car of the Year awards program, first held in 2021, aims to honor the best cars each year, reflecting advancements in design, technology, safety, performance, and environmental protection.
