Báo Cần ThơBáo Cần Thơ21/05/2026

Traders are buying rice from farmers in Can Tho City for the 2025-2026 winter-spring crop.

(CT) - Compared to more than a month ago, the price of many types of rice in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces has increased by 100-500 VND/kg. The price of fresh rice varieties such as IR 50404, OM 380, and OM 34 is currently at 5,300-6,100 VND/kg in many places; while varieties like Dai Thom 8, Jasmine 85, Nang Hoa 9, OM 18, ST 24, and ST 25... have increased from 5,900-6,500 VND/kg to 6,300-7,000 VND/kg. The price increase is due to a sharp decrease in supply as many localities have harvested and sold all their commercial rice from the 2025-2026 winter-spring crop. Recently, many small traders and businesses have also stepped up rice purchases to serve domestic consumption and export.

Thai jackfruit prices remain very low.

Traders are buying Thai jackfruit in Vinh Long province.

(CT) - After a long period of very low prices, the price of Thai jackfruit has now increased by 500-3,000 VND/kg compared to more than a week ago. Grade 1 Thai jackfruit (9 kg/fruit or more) is being purchased by many businesses and fruit traders at the wholesale market at 5,000-7,000 VND/kg, while Grade 2 (7 kg to under 9 kg/fruit) is priced at 3,000-4,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, many farmers are selling Thai jackfruit in bulk to traders at the farm gate for 2,500-3,000 VND/kg.

Poultry egg prices continue to fall.

Poultry eggs are on display at a business location in Tan An ward, Can Tho city.

(CT) - Recently, poultry egg prices in the Mekong Delta have decreased by another 1,000-2,000 VND per dozen (10 eggs) and are at their lowest level in many months. Fresh duck eggs are retailed at many markets and poultry egg outlets in Can Tho City and neighboring provinces such as Vinh Long and Dong Thap at 24,000-32,000 VND per dozen. Balut (fertilized duck eggs) and salted duck eggs are priced at 35,000-40,000 VND per dozen. Industrial chicken eggs are retailed at 20,000-25,000 VND per dozen; free-range chicken eggs at 28,000-30,000 VND per dozen; and fresh quail eggs at 6,000 VND per dozen. The low price of poultry eggs is due to abundant supply, while consumption in many localities is weak and export demand is limited.
