Around 5 PM on the 29th day of the Lunar New Year (February 15th), traffic jams stretched along the roads around West Lake. Thousands of people flocked there to hunt for discounted peach blossom and kumquat branches. Compared to a few days earlier, the price of many peach blossom branches had dropped by up to two-thirds. Mr. Bui Thanh Quy (Tay Ho ward) said he successfully negotiated a peach blossom branch down from 1.5 million VND to 800,000 VND. "The branch still has many buds and a beautiful shape. This price is reasonable at the last minute," he said.
