On November 28, Tuoi Tre Online recorded that the DT.848 belt route, from the roundabout of National Highway 80 (Tan Duong commune) to Sa Dec bridge (Sa Dec ward, Dong Thap province), was seriously damaged, with water holes in the middle of the rocky road surface, making it very difficult for people to travel.
In particular, about 200m from the roundabout towards the center of Sa Dec flower village was almost completely damaged. Many heavy-duty trucks passing through this section had to go very slowly. This is also the main route for transporting ornamental plants from the flower village to the provinces.
According to a resident who does business on this road, for about 2 months now, when the tides flood, this road has been damaged more severely. Although the authorities have temporarily repaired it, after just one rain and flood, the road is full of potholes again.

Informing Tuoi Tre Online , the Department of Construction of Dong Thap province said that the unit is currently managing nearly 900km of provincial roads with 50 routes and 5 national highway sections nearly 300km long, so organizing repairs in conditions of continuous, prolonged heavy rain is difficult and not timely.
Recently, some road sections along rivers, canals and ditches have been affected by floodwaters and high tides, causing subsidence and landslides on the roadside; the increased volume of heavy vehicles in flooded conditions has caused damage to the roadbed and surface to occur on a larger scale and at a more serious level.
The repair work is difficult because the patching of asphalt concrete materials and asphalt paving must be done in dry road surface conditions to ensure quality.

The Department of Construction of Dong Thap province has temporarily repaired damaged roads, carried out maintenance, patching, and repairs to basically ensure smooth traffic; reviewed and monitored sections and areas that are frequently flooded, deeply flooded, landslides, and severely damaged on roads.
Implement curb removal to create natural drainage, temporarily fill in damaged low-lying areas, potholes; install warning signs; arrange barriers, guide people in potentially dangerous areas; assign forces to respond to high tides, promptly handle arising incidents.

Mr. Nguyen The Hong Trung - Director of the Department of Construction of Dong Thap province - said that for the DT.848 belt route (on National Highway 80, from Cai Co roundabout, Tan Duong commune to Nguyen Chi Thanh street, Sa Dec ward), the unit is organizing an open bidding.
"In the short term, we will wait for the water to recede and the road to dry. We will maintain and repair it to serve traffic for the Sa Dec flower festival at the end of the year. In the long term, we will carry out major repairs on this road step by step and are in the bidding process," said Mr. Trung.
