On the afternoon of October 12, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Ji Jong-rip, Vice President and Global CEO of Amkor Technology Group, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam wishes to develop the semiconductor industry in the spirit of "taking shortcuts" to "better off the beaten track".
Vietnam is researching and building a development strategy, a human resource development project along with appropriate institutions, policies and mechanisms to attract the world 's leading semiconductor manufacturing and design enterprises to Vietnam; promote cooperation, create conditions to improve the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises and gradually participate in the semiconductor industry value chain.
Vietnam will promote the training of high-quality human resources to participate in the semiconductor industry, with the goal of training 50,000 employees from now until 2030. It is proposed that Amkor Technology Group continue to cooperate and support Vietnam in developing the semiconductor industry, especially in providing advice on building mechanisms and policies, transferring technology, training human resources, improving management capacity, participating in infrastructure investment, building training facilities, incubating, researching and developing, designing, testing semiconductor products, etc.
Mr. Ji Jong-rip affirmed that Amkor Technology Group will continue to make efforts to contribute to the development of Vietnam, forming the group's semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam.
On October 11, Amkor's semiconductor factory (with an investment capital of 1.6 billion USD) was inaugurated at Yen Phong 2 Industrial Park (Bac Ninh province).
