Promoting tourism to destinations in the North of Dong Nai

Dong Nai Province Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center has just conducted a survey and built tourist routes and destinations connecting Long Thanh International Airport to a number of destinations in the northern region of Dong Nai Province. The survey team included more than 50 tourism and travel businesses in the province.

The program aims to collect practical information to evaluate the potential of destinations, routes, and tourist areas in the province, especially destinations that have the ability to connect directly to Long Thanh Airport. On that basis, propose and build specific tours/routes, meeting the diverse needs of many groups of customers with flexible forms.

Exploiting tourism potential in border areas and revolutionary bases

The North of Dong Nai province (formerly Binh Phuoc province) has many famous tourist destinations such as: The special national relic site of the Southern Vietnam Liberation Army Command Base (Ta Thiet Base) in Loc Thanh commune, Bu Gia Map National Park in Bu Gia Map commune, the historical relic of the Communal House (Communal House) in Loc Ninh commune, the national historical relic of Soc Bom Bo in Bom Bo commune, border markers..., and tourist destinations with unique cultural and spiritual values. However, the exploitation and development of tourism at the above destinations have not yet achieved results commensurate with their potential, especially tours/tour routes, the connection of travel and tourism businesses with destinations is still limited.

Assessing the potential for tourism development in the Northern Dong Nai region, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoai, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Tourism - Hotel Management, University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City, commented: The Northern Dong Nai region has a lot of potential for tourism development with types such as: eco-sport tourism, community cultural discovery tourism, educational tourism associated with stories about border markers, places to affirm national sovereignty , protect the environment...

In the coming time, the Center for Investment - Trade and Tourism Promotion of Dong Nai province will strengthen promotion and positioning of the image of a new tourist destination in Dong Nai, gradually affirming Dong Nai's position as a new tourist center of the Southeast region, capable of attracting domestic and international tourists.

To exploit and develop tourism for the northern region of Dong Nai, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoai, Dong Nai can exploit the aspect of community cultural tourism, clinging to the community cultural stories of the Khmer, S'tieng and some other ethnic groups in the locality. To do this, local authorities and tourism businesses must make people understand the cultural values ​​and economic values ​​that people enjoy when doing tourism. When people see those values, they will further raise their awareness of preserving cultural traditions and cooperating in tourism. In addition, the northern part of Dong Nai also has the advantage of exploiting historical revolutionary destinations with famous revolutionary bases, carrying unique historical stories, contributing to educating revolutionary traditions and patriotism of the nation. To make tourism products more perfect, Dong Nai needs to promote the development of accompanying services such as: accommodation, cuisine, local products...

Creating opportunities for tourism in the North of Dong Nai to "take off"

Through surveys, some travel companies believe that: Ta Thiet Base, border markers, Bu Gia Map National Park... are impressive destinations that can be exploited into tourism products for many types of visitors such as: source tourism products for students, agencies, organizations...; tours to explore forest ecotourism, greet landmarks; tours to experience community cultural tourism, spiritual tourism...

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang, Director of Golden Trip Company Limited (in Tran Bien Ward) shared: After the merger, Dong Nai province has more space to develop tourism to the North. This is an opportunity for Dong Nai to diversify its tourism products, exploit the potential domestic tourist market, tourists from neighboring localities such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, the Central Highlands provinces... Especially, when Long Thanh Airport comes into operation, Dong Nai has more opportunities to exploit the flow of international tourists. Mr. Sang added: “In the coming time, we will research and build destinations to exploit tourism tours in the North of Dong Nai province. These will be potential tourism products, for customers such as students, agencies, units, and businesses. We hope that local authorities as well as tourism management agencies will support people and destinations in the North of the province to build quality, attractive destinations with many experiences so that travel businesses can confidently bring visitors to visit in the coming time.”

With the goal of increasing products, creating connections between destinations and travel businesses, contributing to promoting the tourism industry to accelerate and develop strongly in the coming time, Deputy Director of the Center for Investment - Trade and Tourism Promotion of Dong Nai province Tran Thi Thu Trang hopes: After the survey, from the comments and suggestions of businesses and destinations, Dong Nai tourism industry will develop more specific tours/tour routes such as: tours departing from Long Thanh Airport to visit Dong Nai and neighboring areas; tours ending at the airport to create favorable conditions for tourists after the journey; day tours suitable for business travelers, short tours for transit travelers and long tours for international visitors who want to learn about the cultural, historical and ecological life of Dong Nai and the Southeast region.
