5 important power transmission projects are being urgently implemented
Reporting at the meeting, EVNNPT General Director Pham Le Phu said: Currently, the power transmission grid supplying electricity to Ca Mau province includes 4 220 kV transformer stations with a total capacity of 1,125 MVA and 17 220 kV lines connecting power plants in the area, equivalent to about 560 km of lines.
Operational management and technical management are guaranteed to be safe and reliable, contributing to the stable supply of electricity for the socio -economic development of Ca Mau province. However, to relieve the power source in the area and increase the reliability of power supply for the following years, it is necessary to ensure the progress of implementing power transmission projects.

Based on the Power Plan VIII (adjusted) and the Plan for implementing the Power Plan VIII (adjusted), in Ca Mau province, EVNNPT is implementing investment in 5 projects, of which 4 projects are under construction and 1 project is in the investment preparation stage, which is the 500 kV LNG Bac Lieu - Thot Not transmission line project.
The project has a scale of building a new 500 kV power line with 2 circuits, about 130 km long, passing through Ca Mau province and Can Tho city.
EVNNPT is carrying out the survey of the transmission line route, striving to start the project in the first quarter of 2026 and energize it synchronously with the generation time of Unit 1 of the Bac Lieu LNG Power Plant.
In order to soon deploy the construction of the 500 kV LNG Bac Lieu - Thot Not transmission line project, meeting the testing and power generation operation schedule of the LNG Bac Lieu Power Plant, EVNNPT requests the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to soon consider and approve the route of the transmission line passing through the province; update the route into local planning; add it to land use planning and other related planning.
EVNNPT also requested the province to promptly consider and support the settlement of investment policy documents and approval of investors; at the same time, send an official dispatch to the People's Committee of Can Tho city to support the early settlement of route direction, planning and investment policy, and hand over to investors as requested by EVNNPT.
At the working session, leaders of departments and branches of Ca Mau province and leaders of EVNNPT's departments and units exchanged and discussed to propose solutions to speed up legal procedures to start construction and energize the project on schedule.

Proposing Ca Mau to create favorable conditions to speed up the progress of project implementation
At the meeting, EVNNPT Chairman Nguyen Tuan Tung said that the progress of completing power transmission projects depends largely on stages such as: Agreement, approval of route direction and project implementation location by localities; approval of investment policy, approval of investors; compensation, support, site clearance and resettlement. Therefore, to speed up the progress of completing projects, it is necessary to pay special attention and urgently implement these stages.
The Chairman of EVNNPT Board of Directors requested Ca Mau province to fully update the list of 500/220 kV power transmission projects in the Power Plan VIII (adjusted) into the province's master plan for development; at the same time, review and arrange land funds to implement 500/220 kV projects that have not been implemented.
The People's Committee of Ca Mau province is requested to direct departments, branches and sectors to closely coordinate with EVNNPT and its affiliated units in approving compensation, support and site clearance plans (BTGPMB) for power grid projects in the area, in order to speed up progress and create favorable conditions for implementation.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen thanked EVNNPT for its attention and investment in power transmission projects in the area, contributing to releasing the capacity of power plants and ensuring electricity supply to serve the socio-economic development of the province.
Regarding the 500 kV LNG Bac Lieu - Thot Not transmission line project, this is a project of special importance, aiming to transmit the capacity of LNG Bac Lieu power plants and other power plants in Ca Mau province to the national power system.
The project plays a role in connecting the 500 kV power grid between regions, ensuring safe and stable power supply for the Southern region and its vicinity. The project is in line with the 500 kV transmission grid list according to Decision No. 768/QD-TTg dated April 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister on approving the adjustment of the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
This is a very important project for Ca Mau province, because if the power source is completed without a transmission line to release the capacity, the plant will not be effective.
Ca Mau province highly appreciates and welcomes EVNNPT's initiative in promptly implementing procedures to ensure synchronous progress with Bac Lieu LNG Power Plant.
Regarding the proposals and recommendations of EVNNPT, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province affirmed that it will direct departments, branches and localities to take drastic measures to remove obstacles. In the immediate future, the province proposed to establish a Working Group to promptly handle difficulties arising in the implementation of power projects in general and of EVNNPT in particular.
The provincial leaders assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to be the focal point, to synthesize weekly reports, and at the same time build specific progress milestones for each industry and each locality to completely resolve difficulties and problems of EVNNPT projects that are being and will be implemented in the area.
Departments, branches and localities need to coordinate closely with EVNNPT to build accurate route directions, avoiding adjustments during construction.
The leaders of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested EVNNPT to closely coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities of the province to implement the project synchronously and smoothly, striving to complete the 500 kV LNG Bac Lieu - Thot Not transmission line project to ensure progress and synchronization with the Bac Lieu LNG gas power plant project.
