Speeding up site clearance for key projects serving the APEC Summit

On the afternoon of December 9, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc chaired a working session with Phu Quoc Sun Company Limited (a member of Sun Group) on the progress of site clearance for key projects serving the APEC Summit.

For projects invested by Sun Group such as Bai Dat Do Mixed Urban Area, the current difficulties are complicated land origin, large number of plots, urgent progress but insufficient human resources to carry out. The investor proposed to prioritize the construction site by February 2026 and arrange more human resources to carry out compensation work.

The investor said that the APEC Conference Center is expected to start construction on February 10, 2026; for the first section of the urban metro line, the construction is committed to start on December 19, 2025.

Sun Group projects are contractors such as APEC Avenue, it is proposed to speed up the site clearance progress, hoping to have the site by February 15, 2026. For the An Thoi resettlement area, it is facing difficulties due to the complicated land origin, the process of using and buying and selling by many people, prolonging the approval time, it is proposed to speed up the area planning plan, hoping to have the site by February 15, 2026.

Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc emphasized that projects serving the APEC 2027 Summit are extremely important political tasks, with only about 18 months left to complete. However, site clearance work at many projects is facing difficulties. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors and the Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee to identify this as a top priority task, focusing on removing obstacles with the highest sense of responsibility.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province requested the sectors and Phu Quoc special zone to focus on raising people's awareness of the significance and importance of implementing key projects to serve the APEC Summit; focus on site clearance; and use human resources in a very scientific manner. In particular, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc special zone should concentrate all its efforts and arrange more personnel to speed up the work of counting, verifying the origin of land and approving compensation and payment plans for households.

With the highest sense of responsibility, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc requested departments, branches, Phu Quoc special zone, and investors to focus on completing projects on schedule.
