During the meeting, representatives from the University of Economics (Da Nang University) presented a proposal for the establishment of an Institute for Research and Training in Fintech and Sustainable Finance within the University of Economics.
Accordingly, the institute is defined as a specialized unit with the function of researching, training, educating, and advising on policy in the fields of fintech (financial technology) and sustainable finance.
The institute does not overlap in function with specialized departments, but plays a supporting and interdisciplinary role, closely linked to the requirements of international integration. The institute connects and creates an integrated space between training, scientific research, and policy-market practices.
Within the overall ecosystem of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang , the Institute for Research and Training in Fintech and Sustainable Finance is positioned as a component of the knowledge and human resource infrastructure, playing a direct supporting role for the financial center in policy research, training high-quality human resources, and testing and refining new financial models.
Organizationally, the institute is under the management of the University of Economics; it is given the conditions to operate flexibly, promoting the initiative and creativity of a research and training unit associated with an international environment.
Concluding the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh stated that the establishment of the Institute for Research and Training in Fintech and Sustainable Finance is not only a necessary step for the university but also a crucial link in Da Nang's strategy to develop an international financial center.
The institute plays an academic and practical advisory role in addressing challenges related to the regulatory sandbox and attracting strategic investors in the fintech sector.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee requested the University of Economics and the University of Da Nang to urgently complete the dossier for the establishment of the institute. The University of Economics should research opening additional training majors to provide human resources for the financial center to meet the city's future needs.
