The widespread shortage of orders since the beginning of the year has forced businesses to slow down production, affecting jobs and incomes of workers. This is also the reason why the number of workers filing for unemployment benefits has increased.

To support this force to return to the labor market soon, Dong Nai Employment Service Center has increased job counseling and supported connections with businesses to help workers find suitable jobs.
* Unemployment benefit rate increased
Dong Nai Employment Service Center at the end of July 2023 had many workers coming to apply for unemployment benefits. Mr. Tran Van Thanh, who used to work as a maintenance worker at a mechanical engineering company, quit his job for 4 months but still has no stable job. Mr. Thanh said that after quitting his job, he applied for unemployment insurance and received a subsidy of nearly 4 million VND/month.
Ms. Le Thi My, residing in Long Binh Tan Ward (Bien Hoa City), is applying for unemployment benefits after her company reduced its workforce due to lack of production orders. Ms. My had been working for more than a year when the company encountered difficulties with orders, and she and many other employees quit their jobs in May 2023. Because she has not found a new job, she applied for unemployment benefits to have a monthly income to take care of her family. Her wish is to soon have a job again to stabilize her life away from home.
According to the Dong Nai Employment Service Center, in the first 6 months of 2023, the center received nearly 36,000 unemployment benefit applications and decided to provide benefits to over 33,000 workers with an amount of over 1 trillion VND. Compared to last year, the number of people and the amount of unemployment benefits paid have both increased. The reasons are that enterprises have terminated labor contracts, expired labor contracts, dissolved enterprises, gone bankrupt, changed their structure or cut workers due to lack of orders, etc.
* Job consulting and vocational training for workers
Identifying that job counseling and referrals for unemployed workers are important tasks for workers to return to the labor market soon, in recent months, Dong Nai Employment Service Center has promoted recruitment information on the center's website and 5 representative offices in districts and cities in the province so that workers can know and find jobs that match their abilities and skills after losing their jobs.
Ms. Tran Thi Soan has just found a stable job again at Fashion Garment Company Limited (Bien Hoa City) after recently participating in a job fair. Ms. Soan said that because she has sewing skills, after the interview, she went on a trial period and was officially hired. "Finding a job at this time is lucky for employees because it gives them an income to take care of their lives and cover many living expenses. I hope that the company will have abundant orders so that employees' income will not be affected," Ms. Soan confided.
In the first 6 months of 2023, Dong Nai Employment Service Center organized 9 job fairs with the participation of over 180 businesses and over 3,600 employees. As a result, it provided job counseling to over 2,500 people and received over 2,000 applications. The Center connected 33 businesses with recruitment needs for about 3,000 unemployed workers to have stable jobs. In addition, it provided job counseling to nearly 40,000 employees and introduced jobs to over 4,600 employees. |
In addition to unemployed workers who find jobs early, many people who receive unemployment benefits are still struggling to find work. The main reason is that workers have barriers of age, skills and lack of suitable jobs. In addition, when there is a suitable job, the company is located far away, making it inconvenient to travel to work. Especially for workers over 40 years old, it is even more difficult if they do not have solid skills.
In order for workers to find suitable jobs and meet the recruitment needs of enterprises, the center has advised and encouraged workers to register for vocational training to have more job options. However, most workers want to apply for jobs immediately and do not want to learn a trade, so the rate of registering for vocational training is very limited. Meanwhile, the superior policy of unemployment insurance is that workers not only receive a subsidy after leaving work to offset part of the costs but also receive vocational training support to change their career goals and return to the labor market soon.
Director of Dong Nai Employment Service Center Tran Thi Thuy Tram said that in the coming time, the center will continue to promote online connection of supply and demand for workers through the website, Zalo Dong Nai Employment Service Center (OA) and organize direct and online job exchanges suitable to the characteristics of the locality and the participants to connect the labor market. From there, create conditions for those who have not found a job to choose a job suitable to their abilities to stabilize their lives and stay with the enterprise and the locality for a long time. At the same time, connect and support unemployed workers to learn a trade to improve their skills, meeting the recruitment needs of enterprises.
