Proposal to recall 2 books of Social Science Publishing House

On October 8, 2024, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen - Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution (Ministry of Information and Communications) signed Document No. 1306/CXBIPH-QLXB to send to the Social Sciences Publishing House, accordingly: The Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution received a document dated October 2, 2024 from Mr. Phan Tan - Deputy Director and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Social Sciences Publishing House requesting to withdraw the book Vietnam History Without Borders and review the book Phan Huy Le's Posthumous Documents on Perceptions of Vietnamese History licensed for publication by the Social Sciences Publishing House.

Two books proposed for recall

Mr. Phan Tan said that the book Vietnam History Without Borders has many historical and political errors and the book Phan Huy Le's Posthumous Documents on Vietnamese History has errors in the map content.

The Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution requests the Social Sciences Publishing House to re-evaluate the content of the book Vietnam History Without Borders and the book Phan Huy Le's Posthumous Works on Perceptions of Vietnamese History . The evaluation document must have the opinion of the governing body, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.

In the above document, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen also requested the Social Sciences Publishing House to "send a written report on the appraisal results to the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution before September 20, 2024" (?).

In 2024, the Social Sciences Publishing House will grant a license to jointly publish the book Phan Huy Le's posthumous work on Vietnamese historical awareness (Phan Phuong Thao, Phan Hai Linh, Pham Le Huy organized the manuscript) with the Times Science andEducation Publishing Joint Stock Company (TIMES); the book Vietnam's history without borders (edited by Tran Tuyet Nhung and Anthony Reid; translated by Hoang Anh Tuan, Truong Huyen Chi and Nguyen Quoc Anh; proofread by Dinh Khac Thuan) with Omega Vietnam Book Joint Stock Company (Omega Plus).
