Proposal of 500 billion VND to overcome damage caused by floods on national highways through the South Central region

On November 29, the Ministry of Construction announced that the total damage to transport infrastructure managed by the ministry during the recent floods in the South Central region was estimated at about 100 billion VND. In addition, many projects under construction were affected in progress.

To overcome this problem, the authorities plan to reinforce the positive slope; reinforce the negative slope; raise the red line height and improve flood drainage; supplement and expand the sewer system; and repair the roadbed and surface. The total proposed cost is about 500 billion VND.

There are still 9 traffic jams on National Highway 27C ( Khanh Hoa province), expected to open to traffic with one lane before December 4; 2 locations on National Highway 20 (Lam Dong province) expected to open to traffic before December 3. These are national highways managed by the locality.

The Ministry of Construction also said that the floods have seriously affected the progress of key transport projects, including four projects scheduled to be completed by December 19, including: Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh, Chi Thanh - Van Phong. These projects have not yet been fully restored.

In addition, a number of national highway renovation and upgrade projects being implemented in the area include: National Highway 19 renovation and upgrade project ( Gia Lai province); Mimosa Pass renovation and upgrade project and a number of works on National Highway 20 (Lam Dong province) are also affected in progress.

The Ministry of Construction has directed investors to urgently restore construction sites and re-organize construction to complete component projects as planned; have solutions to compensate for delays caused by floods; and proactively have solutions to respond to natural disasters in the coming time.
