On January 16th, the My Son World Heritage Management Board announced that the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa, and an Indian delegation had visited and worked at the My Son temple complex (Thu Bon commune, Da Nang city).
The delegation visited and learned about the historical, architectural, and cultural value of the My Son temple complex, expressing deep interest in the conservation and promotion of heritage values, especially the cultural and religious exchanges between the two countries.

The ambassador acknowledged and pledged to further promote the good cooperative relationship between the two countries, especially in the field of preserving and promoting the value of Cham cultural heritage.
During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet, Director of the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board, proposed that Ambassador Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa request the Indian Government to continue funding the restoration of the A' group of towers after the restoration project of the EF group is completed. Currently, the A' group of towers, located next to group A, is in a state of ruin and urgently needs preservation and restoration.
In addition, funding will be provided for the construction of an information center at the My Son Heritage Site with modern technology, showcasing research results and conservation projects for groups A, H, K, E, and F, aiming to promote and introduce the My Son heritage site as well as other Champa heritage sites in Da Nang city, attracting tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet also proposed organizing an international conference on the conservation, restoration, and promotion of the value of the My Son temple complex, and the cultural relationship between Champa and India (scheduled for September 2026).
At the same time, we will support the working group from Da Nang city, including the My Son World Heritage Management Board, in their study tour on conservation and promotion of world heritage sites in India; and promote and develop My Son heritage tourism in India…
Previously, from 2017 to 2022, through a bilateral cooperation project between the Indian and Vietnamese governments, the Indian government provided approximately $2.2 million in funding to help My Son successfully preserve and restore the K, H, and A tower groups, ensuring adherence to the principles of monument preservation.
During the period 2025-2029, the Indian government will continue to provide nearly $4.9 million in funding for the urgent conservation of certain items within the E and F tower complexes of My Son.
