The People's Committee of Ninh Binh province has just submitted a report to the Prime Minister on the Project to study the possibility of establishing Ninh Binh International Airport. The designed capacity in 2030 is 5 million passengers/year and 10 million passengers/year in the period up to 2050.
According to the proposal, the airport was studied at 5 locations, in which the proposed location is located in Liem Tuyen ward and Binh Luc and Binh My communes. This location has convenient connections as it is about 7 km from Phu Ly city, 21 km from Nam Dinh city, 30 km from Ninh Binh province center; near major tourist areas such as Tam Chuc pagoda (19 km) and Bai Dinh - Trang An (30 km).
The project has a planned area of about 664 hectares, built according to the scale of a level 4E airport (ICAO) and a level I military airport, including two runways of 3,800 m and 3,200 m long, operating Code E aircraft. The airport's design capacity is expected to reach 5 million passengers/year by 2030 and increase to 10 million passengers/year by 2050.
The preliminary total investment for the Ninh Binh International Airport Project is about VND 23,216 billion, including site clearance costs and excluding loan interest.
To have a basis for implementing the next steps, the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province proposed that the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction consider and decide to add Ninh Binh International Airport to the Master Plan of the national airport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
