The type of boat used for this special tour is the traditional three-walled sailboat of Quang Ninh – capable of using sails to sail against the wind. Currently, 3 out of the 10 three-walled sailboats in the project are undergoing trial runs along the shores of Ha Long Bay and have received significant attention from locals and tourists.

According to this consortium, when put into operation, this type of boat will create a tourism product with high image promotion potential, helping tourists have new experiences at a suitable time and at a reasonable cost.

This is also one of the reasons that gives tourists more options and allows them to extend their stay when visiting the old Ha Long City, contributing to increasing the value of year-round tourism.

According to the proposal, the company suggests a route approximately 12km long, starting from the passenger pick-up and drop-off point at the passenger transport terminal of the Joint Stock Company for Water Transport (Ha Long Market 1 area, Hong Gai ward), passing through the Cot 5 beach area (Ha Long ward), and then returning to the passenger transport terminal of the Joint Stock Company for Water Transport.

The company plans to install a kiosk in the Vincom flower garden area to provide information on tourism, services, routes, lists of connecting stops, passenger fares, service criteria, and departure times for all trains throughout the day.

Regarding frequency, based on an assessment of the characteristics of the demand for sightseeing and tourism time along the route, the fixed operating frequency is 6 trips/day, with each trip lasting 1 hour.

Regarding the operating hours during the day: trip 1 starts at 8:00 AM; trip 2 at 9:00 AM; trip 3 at 10:00 AM; trip 4 starts at 2:00 PM; trip 5 starts at 3:00 PM; trip 6 starts at 4:00 PM.

Each boat can carry a maximum of 12 passengers and 2 crew members per trip.

According to the plan, the enterprise will prioritize local labor to shift the occupational structure from coastal fishing to tourism services. For captains, personnel skilled in steering three-walled sailboats will be employed . Personnel will wear traditional brown robes, five-panel shirts, and leaf hats.

If granted permission, the company will put the first boats into service for tourists starting in early 2026.

However, the businesses also suggested that, since this is a unique product aimed at honoring and preserving the traditional craft of building three-walled sailboats in the province, and at the same time creating a product with reasonable costs to serve the people and develop tourism, there should be no entrance fee to the bay for tourists on this tour. They also proposed limiting the number of vehicles and participating units to ensure business efficiency for pioneering investors, as well as to ensure effective management of this new type of product.
