Proposal to use nearly 1.73 billion VND from the central traffic safety budget to repair damaged traffic lights

According to the report of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, there are currently a total of 79 traffic light clusters in the province managed by various units. Specifically, Road Management Area II is responsible for 16 clusters, Quang Tri BOT Company Limited manages 5 clusters, and the remaining 58 clusters are under the management of localities under the Provincial People's Committee.

Worryingly, the unstable operation of traffic light clusters is happening a lot. There are 12/16 light clusters managed by Road Management Area II and all 5 light clusters managed by Quang Tri BOT Company Limited are in a state of unstable operation.

For the locally managed light clusters, through review and recommendations from the direct management and maintenance units, 25/58 light clusters are operating unstably. The urgent need now is to replace solar power via grid power for 16 light clusters; repair damage to LED bulbs, electrical cabinets... for 9 light clusters.

According to Director of the Department of Construction, Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee Tran Huu Hung, in order to improve the capacity of traffic infrastructure, enhance the ability to guide and divide traffic flows, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety, while eliminating black spots and potential traffic accident spots, ensuring safety for people and vehicles traveling through these intersections, repairing and fixing damaged traffic lights is very necessary.

Currently, the additional central traffic safety budget with a target for 2025 that has not been allocated is more than 4.2 billion VND. In order to completely resolve the damage and unstable operation of many traffic light clusters in the province, the Traffic Safety Committee proposed to use nearly 1.73 billion VND of the additional central traffic safety budget with a target for 2025 to implement the project to repair and fix the traffic light clusters that are having problems.
