Nguyen Thi Oanh won 4 gold medals at SEA Games 32.
At the 32nd SEA Games, Nguyen Thi Oanh was the brightest star, representing the spirit and will of the Vietnamese people. She won 4 gold medals in the events such as 1,500m, 3,000m hurdles, 5,000m and 10,000m.
The moment Nguyen Thi Oanh touched the hearts of fans was when she won 2 gold medals in the 1,500m and 3,000m distances with only 16 minutes of rest.
Nguyen Thi Oanh was proposed to be awarded the Second Class Labor Medal.
In an exclusive interview with VTC News in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh said: " I have never seen 16 minutes so short. After finishing the 1,500m race, I could only wipe myself with a cold towel, drink a glass of water and then immediately return to the registration room to prepare for the next race.
During that time, Oanh's main job was to move from the finish line to the roll call room and onto the field. I didn't allow myself to think too much. I told myself that I still had a very difficult task and challenges ahead of me, and I had to encourage myself to try to have the best mental state and health, optimal for the next content .
According to VTC News, a number of other athletes are also on the list of candidates for the Third Class Labor Medal, such as: Track and Field athlete Nguyen Thi Huyen (3 gold medals, 1 silver medal); swimmers such as Tran Hung Nguyen (3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal); Pham Thanh Bao (2 gold medals, broke 2 SEA Games records), Nguyen Huy Hoang (2 gold medals, 1 bronze medal).
Athletes with excellent achievements in many consecutive SEA Games such as Can Tat Du, Nguyen Xuan Dinh (wrestling), Nguyen Duy Tuyen (pencak silat), Bui Yen Ly (Kun Khmer), Lai Gia Thanh (weightlifting), Duong Thuy Vi (wushu),... are all eligible for awards.
Currently, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training is meeting with union officials and coaches of various sports to finalize the list of 196 other individuals on the list proposed to be awarded the Prime Minister 's Certificate of Merit.
