On weekend evenings, the Phu Thanh neighborhood cultural center in Quang Phu ward comes alive with the Bài Chòi folk singing festival. Members of the Phu Thanh neighborhood Bài Chòi Club bring traditional melodies mixed with new creative elements. From the setting up of the huts and the distribution of cards to the chanting of the "caller" and "caller," everything is vividly recreated, helping viewers better understand the cultural value of Bài Chòi.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, a resident of Phu Thanh neighborhood (Quang Phu ward), shared: "Every time I hear the chanting of 'bai choi' (a traditional Vietnamese folk game), I feel very happy, as if I'm reliving memories of the past. Now, the local authorities organize it regularly on weekends, and everyone is excited, as it's both entertaining and helps preserve the cultural traditions of our ancestors."
According to Mr. Do Quy Nhiem, Chairman of the Phu Thanh neighborhood's Bai Choi Club, Bai Choi is not only an entertainment game but also the cultural soul of Quang Nam province. In the context of modern life with many new forms of entertainment, maintaining Bai Choi requires dedication and perseverance from those who love traditional culture. "Currently, our club strives to maintain weekly performances at the neighborhood's cultural center to serve the community and to pass on the tradition to the younger generation, preventing its disappearance," Mr. Nhiem said.

Working alongside the Phu Thanh neighborhood Bài Chòi Club is the Tinh Thuy neighborhood Bài Chòi Club, established in 2023 with 11 members. Mr. Phan Ngoc Xa, Chairman of the Tinh Thuy neighborhood Bài Chòi Club (Quang Phu ward), said: “Currently, the club collaborates with Ngo Gia Tu Primary School and Thai Phien Secondary School to open Bài Chòi folk singing training classes for 34 students, with the hope that this traditional art form will be preserved and promoted by the younger generation.”
Immediately after establishing a two-tiered local government system, Quang Phu ward focused on developing Bai Choi clubs, creating a vibrant environment for those who love this art form. Currently, the ward has seven Bai Choi clubs: Tinh Thuy, Phu Thanh, Phu Binh, Ngoc My, Tam Thanh, An Phu, and Hoa Ha. Many clubs maintain regular activities, attracting both older adults and young people. This is considered an effective approach to teaching and spreading the value of Bai Choi to the younger generation.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Phu Ward, said: "The local authorities always create favorable conditions and support for the activities of Bai Choi clubs, considering this an important task in preserving intangible cultural heritage. Maintaining Bai Choi not only contributes to preserving the identity but also enhances the spiritual life of the people in the ward."
