The music night "Sounds of Life" recreates the immortal legacy of the late musician Do Nhuan

The art night commemorating the 103rd birthday of the late musician Do Nhuan brought the audience back to heroic and lyrical melodies, depicting the great legacy that the musician left for Vietnamese music.

On the evening of December 6, at the City Convention and Performance Center, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong and the City Contemporary Arts Theater organized an art program to celebrate the 103rd birthday of musician Do Nhuan called: "Do Nhuan - Sound of life."

The program is a tribute from Hai Phong city to the contributions of musician Do Nhuan, a giant of revolutionary music , and to honor the massive musical heritage of this giant of Vietnamese revolutionary music.

Nearly 1,500 seats at the City Convention and Performance Center were filled with a large audience of music lovers of the Port City of all ages.

The art program consists of 3 parts: Part 1 - Aspirational Homeland; Part 2 - Fire-Lighting Epic Song and Part 3 - Sound of Motherland brought the audience back to the heroic atmosphere of the nation's history through the pinnacle works that made the name of musician Do Nhuan such as "Winter Coat," "Thao River Guerrilla," "Liberation of Dien Bien ," "Looking at the Trees, I Miss You Again," "My Homeland Vietnam..."

Through special performances, the art program depicted important milestones in the musician's creative career, from works associated with the nation's history of struggle to songs imbued with lyricism, rich in human emotions, dedication and the enormous musical heritage of the late musician Do Nhuan.

The program is performed by a team of famous artists in the field of theater and music such as director and conductor Associate Professor - Doctor - Musician Do Hong Quan, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Program director is Major General, Musician Duc Trinh.

The program's script was written by Associate Professor, Doctor, Musician Do Hong Quan; Major General, Musician Duc Trinh; Doctor Pham Phuong Oanh. The artistic director is People's Artist Khanh Hoa, Director of Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater.

The music night featured artists and actors from Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater.

Musician Do Nhuan was born on December 10, 1922 in Hoach Trach village, Thai Hoc commune, Binh Giang district, Hai Duong province (formerly) now Duong An commune, Hai Phong city.

During his musical career, he was honored to be awarded the Second Class Independence Medal, the First Ho Chi Minh Prize (1996), the Second Class Soldier Medal, and the Second Class Victory Medal.

Musician Do Nhuan is a "big tree" of Vietnam's revolutionary music. He is not only a soldier-artist who devoted his whole life to the Fatherland but also the first General Secretary of the Vietnam Musicians' Association and the one who laid the foundation for the formation and development of the Vietnamese Opera musical genre.

People's Artist Khanh Hoa, Director of Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater, said that the art program "Do Nhuan - Sound of Life" is a product staged by Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater, implementing the Hai Phong Television Stage project in 2025.

Through this, Hai Phong city expresses its gratitude to the contributions of musician Do Nhuan and contributes to bringing traditional-revolutionary music closer to contemporary audiences. At the same time, it also conveys the message of continuity between generations through immortal musical heritage.

According to the Organizing Committee, the Hai Phong Television Stage Program in 2025 chose the theme of musician Do Nhuan in the efforts of the city's cultural sector in the step-by-step roadmap towards building Hai Phong into a music city as determined by the Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress.

People's Artist Khanh Hoa, Director of Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater, said that the art program "Do Nhuan - Sound of Life" is not only an event to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the late musician's birth, but also an opportunity for the public to enjoy and feel the lasting value of his musical legacy. Hai Phong audiences will better understand a generation of golden artists who have contributed to shaping the face of Vietnamese music for decades.

Associate Professor, Doctor, Musician Do Hong Quan, son of the late musician Do Nhuan, expressed: "The program is a priceless gift to Vietnamese musicians and to my family in particular."

Musician Do Hong Quan also expressed his hope that the program will be an echo of the past, providing spiritual energy for the people of the port city to have more strength in the process of working and creating./.
