A house of a resident of Vinh Xuan village, Tuy An Tay commune ( Dak Lak ) was split in two due to subsidence and landslides caused by the recent heavy rains.

In O Loan commune (Dak Lak province), after the recent prolonged heavy rain, many landslides and subsidence points have appeared in the mountainous residential areas of the commune. It was recorded that in the U Voi mountain area in Tuy Duong village, in the past 5 days, there has been a situation of subsidence of soil and rocks from the mountain to the house area, causing damage to the crops of the local people. Many people are worried about larger landslides and cracks several dozen meters from the house.

Mr. Dang Van Ich (Tuy Duong village, O Loan commune) said that the cracks on the hill appeared very wide and long. Many points of subsidence were quite large, causing the ground to fall down to his house area. He was very worried, so he moved to the village cultural house according to the instructions of the local government.

Faced with the above situation, especially when storm No. 15 is developing complicatedly, the local government of O Loan commune has evacuated 13 households near the foot of U Voi mountain with a total of 37 people to the village cultural house to ensure safety. The police force, militia and commune officials have set up barricades to warn people. The commune is also studying solutions to ensure the safety of people in this area in the coming time.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of O Loan Commune, said that the locality has prepared all the necessary items to serve the people during the evacuation period. The village cultural house has been arranged with 40 folding beds for people to sleep. Adults can go home to take care of livestock, but children and the elderly will stay until it is safe.

Mr. Tran Minh Than, Chairman of Tay Son Commune People's Committee, said that the locality has sent forces to place warning signs for people and vehicles passing on this section of road to ensure safety.

Over the past few days, Dak Lak authorities have coordinated with local authorities to urgently fix landslides on national and provincial highways caused by heavy rain. Many roads have been cleared, ensuring safety for people and vehicles. Warning signs have been placed on some sections at risk of landslides when heavy rain continues.
