According to many experts, Ha Long Bay is not only a natural wonder of the world , but also preserves a valuable cultural depth. Mr. Nguyen Ba Can, Deputy Director of Center 2 (Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board), said that this place preserves layers of cultural sediments over thousands of years in the life of coastal communities. Many sites are not only scenic spots but also have cultural, archaeological and religious values, contributing to the depth of the heritage.

Tourists visit the exhibition area in Tien Ong cave.
Among them, Tien Ong cave is a "miniature museum" in the heart of Ha Long Bay. The cave is wide and dry with stalactites that evoke the image of "fairies" in the imagination of fishermen. This is also an important archaeological site, discovering traces of ancient Vietnamese people living in the Soi Nhu culture, about 8,000-10,000 years ago, reflecting the life and adaptation to the island environment. The artifacts are preserved by Quang Ninh Museum, reviving the early history of ancient residents. Thanks to methodical preservation, Tien Ong cave has become a place where visitors can directly "touch" the past in the pristine cave space.
Me Cung Cave is an important site of prehistoric Ha Long people, located on Lom Bo Island. The cave has many small, maze-like passages. Archaeologists have discovered mollusk shells, stone tools and traces of fire dating back 10,000-7,000 years. The view from the cave looking down to Me Cung Lake is both peaceful and evokes historical depth. The natural beauty combined with archaeological value makes this place an attractive stop on the bay, and at the same time a "living museum", organized right at the first excavation site in Quang Ninh, something that is rarely done anywhere else.
Ba Men Temple is a vivid testament to the folk beliefs of fishermen in coastal areas. The temple worships Ba Men - the guardian goddess, bringing peace to every sea voyage. Every year, the New Year festival is still maintained, with ritual drums, prayers and boats anchored around the temple. The sacred space creates a cultural picture that is both rustic and profound, reflecting the beliefs and aspirations of the fishing community.
If Tien Ong and Me Cung tell stories from thousands of years ago, Vung Vieng area, which used to be a fishing village, recreates a typical maritime cultural life. This is a beautiful floating fishing village, with raft houses, seafaring, net weaving and community activities on the water. Although some households have moved to land, the cultural space is still preserved as an experience point. Visitors can learn about the traditional occupation and lifestyle of ancient fishermen. Vung Vieng is a vivid proof of the ability to adapt to the environment and the effort to preserve the cultural values of the sea and islands.
In addition, Ha Long Bay also has many other culturally valuable sites, which were formerly floating fishing villages on the bay such as Cua Van, Cong Dam, Ba Hang... which are "living museums" of the maritime profession; the iconic Trong Mai islet; Titov Island - the place that marked the historic meeting between President Ho Chi Minh and astronaut Titov, reflecting the cultural and historical exchange of a special period....

Ba Men Temple Festival of fishermen on Ha Long Bay.
It is known that in recent times, the Ha Long Bay Management Board (now the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board) has always focused on preserving the original state of the relics, zoning and displaying valuable archaeological remains, and at the same time supplementing artifacts to enrich the source of documents for research and sightseeing. The Cua Van Floating Cultural Center is also being planned, restored and upgraded, strengthening the connection with Hai Phong and cultural spaces on the bay such as Cua Van - Cai Beo, in order to bring a more diverse and profound experience to visitors.
It can be said that, not only is it a wonder of beautiful scenery, Ha Long Bay also possesses a rich network of cultural heritage, and is an "open museum" of island culture, where visitors can learn and approach the depth of cultural history of Quang Ninh in the most vivid way.
