That is the temple of General Trinh Phong (born in Phu Vinh village, old Vinh Thanh commune, former Nha Trang city; now belongs to Tay Nha Trang ward). He was the highest leader of the patriotic Can Vuong movement, against the French colonial invasion, in Khanh Hoa in the years 1885-1886.
After Trinh Phong was killed by the enemy, the people of Dien Khanh built the above mentioned temple. The Ministry of Culture and Information decided to rank the Trinh Phong Temple as a national historical and cultural relic on August 30, 1991.
Dien Khanh Temple of Literature was established under the decree of King Gia Long 222 years ago (in 1803; later in Phu Loc Tay village, former Dien Khanh town, now Dien Khanh commune, Khanh Hoa province) to worship Confucius, the founder of Confucianism and to record the names of talented people who passed the imperial examinations in the land of Dien Khanh - Khanh Hoa in the past.
Dien Khanh Temple of Literature was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information in 1988.
