Military-civilian relationship
These days, 10 officers and soldiers of Ia Chia Border Guard Station are busy helping 5 households in Bia Ngo village harvest upland rice. The image of the green-shirted soldiers blends with the bright smiles of the villagers on the golden rice fields in the middle of the hillsides, creating a warm scene of military-civilian affection.
Mr. Ro Mah Byuih (Bia Ngo village) emotionally said: “Thanks to the army's help, my family can harvest rice faster, reducing labor costs. I am very happy and grateful!”

Also during this time, the unit continued to coordinate with the local authorities and forces, assigning 12 officers and soldiers to help 6 households whose roofs were blown off by storm No. 13; directly giving gifts and supporting 5 poor families affected by the storm, each worth 1 million VND.
Not only providing emergency support, the unit also implements many social security activities, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people in border areas. Currently, the unit is implementing the program "Helping children go to school" with 3 students; maintaining the program "Adopted children of Border Guard Station", directly raising Ro Mah Tu (Nu 2 village) at the local working team.
In addition, the officers and soldiers also sponsored two households of lonely elderly people with no one to rely on under the "Skilled Civil Affairs" model. Ro Mah Tu, a 6th grade student at Le Hong Phong Secondary School (Ia Chia Commune), shared: "I consider the soldiers as my second parents. I will try to study well and become a Border Guard in the future to protect the village and the border."
Implementing the policy of "Border Guard Station Party members in charge of households", the unit assigned 19 party members to be in charge of 85 households and 10 party members to participate in activities at 10 village and hamlet party cells. The party members closely followed the grassroots, grasped the thoughts and aspirations of the people; advised the Party Committee and Party cells to issue practical resolutions. Thanks to that, the propaganda and mobilization work for people to develop the economy and convert crops and livestock achieved clear results, helping many households gradually escape poverty and stabilize their lives.
Since the beginning of the year, officers and soldiers of the unit have contributed nearly 70 working days to help people build houses, clean up inter-village roads and support 2 households to escape poverty sustainably. Along with that, they also mobilized officers to contribute one day's salary to respond to the movement "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses"; coordinated with the locality to build 2 houses for extremely difficult households with a total cost and working days of more than 100 million VND.
In particular, the program "Border Lesson" in collaboration with Le Hong Phong Secondary School in early 2025 left a deep impression. More than 90 teachers and students visited the border marker, listened to stories about the Border Guard tradition, thereby fostering love for the homeland, national pride and awareness of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Always close to the base
Ia Chia commune has 10 hamlets and villages, in which the Jrai ethnic group accounts for nearly 70% of the population. The area is large, the population is scattered, and life is still difficult. However, with the motto "Where there are people, there is the Border Guard", for many years, the unit has always closely followed the grassroots according to the principle of "3 close, 4 together" with the people. Thanks to that, the work of propagating and mobilizing people to raise their vigilance, actively participate in the fight against crime has achieved many results, contributing to maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Dinh O Ring, Deputy Political Commissar of Ia Chia Border Guard Station, said: “The unit is assigned to manage and protect 7,146 km of river border, adjacent to Cambodia. In the management area, people's lives are still difficult, so the unit always determines that helping people is not only a supportive job but also a responsibility associated with the task of protecting the border. Therefore, officers and soldiers always strive with people to develop the economy, take care of life, so that each border village is more stable, contributing to firmly protecting the Fatherland's border."

The unit also proactively coordinated and advised local Party committees and authorities to effectively implement the movement "All people participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the new situation". In the commune, 10 self-managed security and order groups and 1 self-managed border and landmark protection group have been maintained in order. Promoting the core role at the grassroots level, the self-managed groups have contributed to maintaining security and order and preventing social evils.
For many years, the security and order situation in Ia Chia commune has been stable, social evils have been controlled, and people are assured in their work and production. "People in the commune always stand side by side with the Border Guard in border protection work. We will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, stay close to the locality, stay close to the grassroots, and stick with the people to excellently complete the assigned tasks" - Lieutenant Colonel Dinh O Ring emphasized.
