A chrysanthemum garden spanning several hectares in Dam Rong 1 commune.
From tomatoes and bell peppers to vast fields of peonies spanning several hectares, interwoven in the land at the foot of Phu Son Pass, beside the majestic Phi Lieng waterfall in the heart of the forest; the joy and excitement stem not only from the bounty of nature but also from the diligent hands, quick thinking, and ability to seize opportunities—qualities not found in every region. In recent years, the area of high-tech agricultural production in Dam Rong 1 commune has continuously increased. The entire commune currently has nearly 120 hectares of high-tech agricultural production, of which more than 40% is covered by greenhouses and glasshouses for growing vegetables and flowers.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, in 2025, thanks to relatively favorable weather conditions, agricultural production in the commune continued to maintain stability and made positive progress. Crop yields were maintained, and even increased, thanks to people proactively intensifying cultivation and boldly applying science and technology to production. In addition, people actively converted areas of low-yield crops to growing vegetables and flowers, and developing mulberry cultivation, contributing to improved economic efficiency and stable income. The average per capita income reached 62 million VND/year, exceeding the resolution's target and creating an important foundation for improving the quality of life for the people.
The economy continues to grow at a fairly good rate, and agricultural production remains stable. Linkages in the production and consumption of commercial vegetable products operate stably and effectively. Greenhouse and net house farming is being promoted, and the application of automation in farming, environmental sensors, and traceability is increasing. The adoption rate of more advanced and intelligent technologies such as IoT, AI, and soilless farming is also being boosted.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, in 2026, the locality will continue to effectively implement programs and projects for the development of agricultural and forestry production as planned. The People's Committee of Dam Rong 1 commune is currently finalizing the project on the development of high-tech agriculture in a smart direction, giai đoạn 2026 - 2030. In this project, high-tech agriculture is identified as an important direction to improve production efficiency, protect the environment, and enhance the competitiveness of the agricultural sector. This will contribute to increasing production value per unit area and raising farmers' incomes.
The goal is to strive for 10-15% of the total agricultural land area (equivalent to 1,000 hectares) to be used for high-tech agricultural production by 2030, with a product value exceeding 450 million VND/hectare. Simultaneously, 7-10 smart high-tech agricultural models will be developed for the commune's key crops. By 2030, the commune will have 2-3 high-tech agricultural production zones.
