Vietnam economic news highlights on December 2, 2025

1. Approval of the list of key energy projects in the new phase : On December 2, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son signed and issued Decision No. 2634/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the list of important national and key projects in the energy sector. This Decision takes effect from the date of signing and officially replaces Decision No. 270/QD-TTg dated April 2, 2024.

2. The Ministry of Construction is urgently looking for a solution to design a model house to prevent floods : On December 2, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh signed a document implementing the Prime Minister's telegram and conclusion announcement on launching and implementing the "Quang Trung campaign" to rapidly rebuild and repair houses for families whose houses were damaged by recent natural disasters in the Central provinces, and to overcome the consequences of rain and floods in the South Central provinces.

3. Chinese tourists can now scan QR codes to pay in Vietnam : From today, December 2, Chinese tourists to Vietnam can use their familiar payment applications to scan QR codes (VIETQR Global) and pay directly at shopping, dining and tourist spots nationwide. The information was announced at the announcement ceremony of bilateral retail payment connection via QR codes between Vietnam and China.

4. 5. The Ministry of Finance is working directly with each unit to determine the feasibility of the projects.

7. Da Nang allocates more than 76 billion VND to 62 communes and wards to overcome the consequences of natural disasters : On December 2, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City Le Tri Thanh said that he had issued a Decision on allocating funds from the city's relief fund to localities to support overcoming damage to agriculture, forestry, health, education, culture and essential infrastructure works after natural disasters.

8. Quang Tri will complete two regional connecting routes in December : Two traffic projects, including the extended Hung Vuong road and the new An Mo bridge connecting to the General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site, play a very important role in connecting the region in the South of Quang Tri province. Nghe An regulates the collection of fees for using sea areas in the period 2026-2030 : Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has regulated the collection of fees for using sea areas for each group of activities in the province in the period 2026-2030. The decision takes effect from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2030. This is the basis for organizations and individuals assigned to exploit and use marine resources to implement uniformly.

Vinh Long calls for investment in 10 projects in the agricultural - rural sector : In the period 2025-2030, Vinh Long province calls for investment in 10 projects in the agricultural - rural sector with a total capital of 48,642 billion VND; of which, there are 5 projects of cooperation, production and consumption linkage with a total capital call of up to 40,800 billion VND.

11. Proposal to adjust the operation process of the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river inter-reservoir : Mr. Truong Xuan Ty, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang city, said that the current hydroelectric reservoirs on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river have too small flood prevention capacity, not enough to cut floods. Therefore, in the coming time, the city will propose that the Central Government change the operation process in the direction of: increasing the flood prevention capacity of the largest reservoirs possible at the beginning of the flood season to increase the flood reduction capacity for downstream areas.

12. Dong Nai auctions land for the ecological urban complex project and Phuoc An thematic park : The total area of land assigned to the Dong Nai Provincial Land Fund Development Center for management is 102 hectares; of which the auctioned land area is 43.5 hectares; the non-auctioned area is 58.3 hectares (including public green land, parking lot, technical infrastructure, traffic). The starting price as announced by the Property Auction Service Center is more than 5,013 billion VND.

13. The open Vietnamese product ecosystem creates momentum for businesses to expand : After 16 years of implementation, the program "Voting for Vietnamese Products that are loved by consumers" has accompanied and brought nearly 3,000 brands of Vietnamese businesses to consumers in the capital. The 2025 Vietnam International Household Goods and Gifts Exhibition is coming soon : A representative of Vinexad Company said that the 2025 Vietnam International Household Goods and Gifts Exhibition (IGHE), the leading annual trade promotion event for the household goods and gifts industry in Vietnam, will officially take place from December 18 to 20 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), 799 Nguyen Van Linh, Ho Chi Minh City.

15. Lam Dong plans to start construction of resettlement areas serving the high-speed railway on December 19 : On December 2, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province directed relevant units to speed up compensation and site clearance for resettlement areas serving the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis through the province. It is expected that the resettlement areas will be simultaneously started construction on December 19, 2025.
