In her dilapidated single-story house in Bai Say 2 village, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Them lived in constant worry whenever storms and heavy rains approached. Her advanced age, poor health, her daughter's marriage far away, and her son's mental illness made life incredibly difficult for her family. Joy came to her family when the province provided 50 million VND to repair her house – a small amount, but for her, it was a "fortune," rekindling her faith and hope in life. Deeply moved after living in her renovated house for several months, Mrs. Them confided: "I am very grateful to all levels and sectors for helping me repair my house so I can live peacefully in my old age." Sharing the same joy as Mrs. Them is the family of Mrs. Pham Thi Hien, from Duc Nhuan village. Her family is one of 30 disadvantaged families in the province benefiting from the Ministry of Public Security 's support policy under the "Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" program in the province. On the day she received her solidarity house, Mrs. Hien couldn't hide her emotion when her family received 150 million VND from the Ministry of Public Security to build a new house. At nearly 70 years old, living in a spacious, sturdy new house, no longer worrying during storms, is a great happiness for her.
The stories of Mrs. Them and Mrs. Hien's families are vivid evidence of the effectiveness of the "For the Poor - Leaving No One Behind" emulation movement being implemented in Trieu Viet Vuong commune. These are two of the 51 poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in the commune that will receive financial support for building or repairing houses in 2025. In addition, the commune has mobilized officials and people to contribute over 200 million VND to the "For the Poor" Fund in 2025, over 137 million VND to support people affected by Typhoon No. 3, and over 425 million VND to various support funds. Ms. Giang Thi Phuong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, said: The commune is promoting the purpose and significance of the movement; and the poverty reduction support policies. The review of poor and near-poor households is ensured to be accurate, transparent, and reflect the current situation, thereby effectively implementing support solutions. The commune's associations and organizations have shown great creativity in mobilizing funds to organize humanitarian and charitable activities, donating thousands of gifts each year to members and union members in difficult circumstances and families of policy beneficiaries during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year)... A prime example is the Women's Union of the commune, which maintains the "Clean Scrap" model and the "Plastic Waste Collection" model, mobilizing members to donate plastic bottles, paper, beer cans, etc., to raise funds to support members and disadvantaged children, including orphans. To date, the Women's Union has sponsored and connected 18 orphaned children in difficult circumstances with a support level of 500,000 VND/month/child; provided livelihood support and donated hundreds of gifts to disadvantaged women. Recently, the Union mobilized officials and members to donate over 5 million VND to Ms. Le Thi Ung, from Trung village, a near-poor household whose house unfortunately burned down. Connecting with philanthropists, the commune has sponsored Vu Thi Hang, an orphan, helping her overcome difficulties and continue attending school. Along with caring for social welfare, the commune has collaborated with associations and organizations to implement solutions to help members in difficult circumstances, those in near-poverty households, and poor households develop their economy and improve their living standards through various forms such as: organizing training courses on scientific and technical transfer; receiving entrusted loans from credit institutions and banks; supporting product promotion and sales... As a result, the poverty rate in the commune has decreased to 0.47%; and the average per capita income has reached nearly 100 million VND/year.
From the simple joys of a renovated home or a spacious, newly renovated house still smelling of fresh plaster to heartfelt gifts and sustainable livelihood models, the "For the Poor - Leaving No One Behind" emulation movement in Trieu Viet Vuong commune has truly spread, bringing about positive changes, helping vulnerable people overcome difficulties and move towards a better life.
