From early morning, at the Viet Tri ward health station, many young people were present waiting for their turn to be examined. Mixed in with the laughter and lively conversations were the confident, eager eyes of young men in their late teens and early twenties, ready to continue the tradition of their fathers and brothers.
In the line of people coming to the clinic, Phan Huy Khanh (Minh Tan area, Viet Tri ward) stood out with a bright smile. Having just graduated from high school, Khanh volunteered to join the army. Born into a family with a revolutionary tradition, his grandfather was a soldier participating in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, Khanh had heard stories about the heroic fighting spirit and indomitable will of Uncle Ho's soldiers since childhood. "I am always proud of my family's tradition, I want to contribute my small part to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland," Khanh shared.

| Mr. Phan Van Can and members of the Military Service Council of Viet Tri ward talked with Phan Huy Khanh after the preliminary examination. |
Behind Phan Huy Khanh's decision is the full trust and support from his family. Mr. Phan Van Can, Khanh's father, proudly said: "When my son volunteered to join the army, my wife and I were very supportive. I always believe that the military environment will train my son's courage, discipline and sense of responsibility."
As for Luong Minh Hieu (Chau Phong area, Viet Tri ward), he just graduated from the Chinese Language Department of Hung Vuong University. Despite his well-off family and many career development opportunities, Hieu still decided to volunteer to join the army. Hieu shared: "I always think that doing military service is an opportunity to train myself, live with discipline and responsibility, and at the same time contribute to protecting my homeland and the Fatherland."
Ms. Do Thi Thanh Lien, Hieu's mother, confided: "When my son expressed his wish to study and train in a military environment, my family absolutely supported him. I believe that the military environment will help my son mature and become a man of courage and determination."
Also at the recruitment examination, Le Minh Quy (Zone 1, Duu Lau, Viet Tri Ward) was also a typical face. Having just graduated from the Faculty of Automotive Technology, Polytechnic College, Quy could easily find a job in industrial parks in the province, but Quy volunteered to join the army. "I always think that being able to contribute to the Army as a young person is a great honor," Quy shared after completing the health examination.
Mr. Le Minh Tue, Quy's father, confided: "Hearing my son say he wanted to join the army, my wife and I were very happy and proud. The family sees it as an opportunity for him to grow up and continue the tradition of his homeland."
According to the Viet Tri Ward Military Service Council, in this year's preliminary examination, the rate of young people volunteering to join the army has increased significantly compared to previous years. Many families have proactively encouraged and oriented their children to join the military service, considering it an honor for the family and a sacred responsibility of every citizen.
Talking to us, comrade Tran Minh Hai, Secretary of the Viet Tri Ward Youth Union, said: “In order to effectively select and call citizens to join the army, the youth organizations in the ward have coordinated well in propaganda and mobilization work, helping young people and their families understand the meaning and importance of participating in military service. The fact that many young people voluntarily write applications to join the army is a good sign, demonstrating patriotism and civic responsibility.”
From the stories of Khanh, Hieu, Quy and hundreds of other young people, it can be seen that family is the place to nurture patriotism and the will to contribute. It is the consensus, support and encouragement of parents and relatives that gives young people the strength to boldly enter the military environment, continuing the heroic tradition of their homeland and country./.
