On the morning of August 1, the Border Guard of Dien Bien province said that on July 31, implementing the plan of phase 2 of the DB523P project, the Drug and Crime Prevention and Control Department (Provincial Border Guard) presided over and coordinated with the Drug and Crime Prevention and Control Department (Border Guard Command), the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (PC04, Provincial Police), the Provincial Customs Department, and the two Border Guard Stations of Muong Nha and Muong Pon discovered and arrested a subject illegally transporting 96,000 synthetic drug pills and 11kg of crystal meth.
At 8:00 p.m. on July 31, in the Na Khoang village area (Muong Nha commune, Dien Bien district), the joint task force set up an ambush and discovered a suspicious subject walking from the Laos-Vietnam border inland, so they signaled him to stop for inspection. Seeing the authorities, the subject threw away two backpacks and ran away to escape. The subject was immediately subdued by the task force.
At the scene, the authorities discovered a backpack with 16 rectangular wheels, wrapped in yellow tape, inside were blue packages containing pink tablets marked WY, suspected to be synthetic drugs, quantity 96,000 pills; a backpack with 11 rectangular packages, inside were nylon packages printed with foreign letters containing opaque white crystals, suspected to be methamphetamine, weight 11kg along with a mobile phone, a walkie-talkie.
At the investigation agency, through investigation, the subject was initially identified as Lau A Ly (born in 1994, residing in Na Khoang village, Muong Nha commune, Dien Bien district). The subject confessed that the packages inside the two backpacks he was wearing were synthetic drugs and crystal meth. Previously, Ly had agreed to transport the above drugs for a Laotian man from his family's farmhouse in the Vietnam - Laos border area to deliver to an unidentified subject in Nua Ngam commune, Dien Bien district. Taking advantage of the rain and darkness, Ly transported the drugs for delivery and was discovered and arrested by the authorities.
Authorities are expanding the investigation into the case and handling it according to the law.
