According to the investigation, Huy had two previous convictions. After being released from prison, he proposed to several women but none of them accepted. Because of this, Huy developed hatred towards the opposite sex.
The defendant planned to use weapons to attack women, especially young girls, whenever he happened to meet them on the street.
Late on the evening of November 2, 2022, Huy used a fluorescent light bulb to hit a 14-year-old girl in the face while she was on her way to school on Hoang Nhu Tiep Street (Long Bien District). As a result, the girl suffered a broken nose.
Three days later, Huy was arrested by the police. Authorities determined that Huy had committed a total of 10 attacks on passersby, nine of whom were women.
Regarding the reason for committing the crime, defendant Huy said he wanted to take revenge on the women he confessed his love to but was not accepted.
