New look of Bach Mai Hospital, branch 2 after many years of abandonment

After many years of abandonment, Bach Mai Hospital 2 (Ninh Binh province) is completing the final items to officially come into operation from the end of 2025.

The Bach Mai Hospital 2 project has a total investment of nearly 5,000 billion VND, with a scale of 1,000 beds. The project started in 2014. According to the Ministry of Health 's report, due to difficulties in the implementation process, the Bach Mai Hospital 2 project has been suspended since January 1, 2021.

At the time of suspension, the project had completed 97.8% of the contract value and disbursed 57.2% of the total allocated capital.

On February 13, the Government issued Resolution 34 on mechanisms and solutions to handle difficulties and obstacles of the project. The Ministry of Health was assigned to direct the investor to promptly adjust the contract, organize the implementation of the project, and ensure the completion of construction in 2025.

At the workshop “Enhancing the quality of training and recruiting high-quality human resources and talents at Bach Mai Hospital” held in early July 2025, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, said that the hospital's second facility in Ninh Binh province will begin operating in December 2025.

According to the reporter, at present, Bach Mai Hospital, Branch 2, is gradually changing its appearance after many years of abandonment. Some damaged and degraded construction items are also being repaired.

The area that was previously overgrown with weeds and wild has now been cleared.

The buildings in the hospital grounds have been repainted, and the moss and mold stains that once covered the walls after many years of abandonment are now gone.

The funeral home area, which used to have weeds growing taller than people, has been trimmed and tidied up.

The outside of the hospital grounds was also cleared of weeds and trash.

A side gate that was always barricaded and silent is now open, with workers constantly going in and out to work.

Inside, workers are actively cleaning and beautifying the hospital landscape.

It is known that when Bach Mai Hospital 2 comes into operation, leading experts and high-quality human resources will directly participate in medical examination and treatment, ensuring the best medical services for the people.

To meet the scale of 1,000 beds, facility 2 needs about 1,200 staff, including 300 doctors. Over the past year, the hospital has recruited about 100 highly qualified doctors, who are receiving further training both domestically and internationally. In the coming time, Bach Mai Hospital will continue to recruit to ensure quality human resources, meeting the needs of effective operation for both facilities.
