New look at My Thien after merger

My Thien commune was newly established on the basis of merging 3 communes: My Tan, My Trung and Thien Trung of the old Tien Giang province. Entering a new development phase, the locality has implemented many important projects and tasks, including building new rural areas, improving people's lives and consolidating infrastructure. Thereby, the socio-economic situation of My Thien commune has achieved many outstanding results, gradually creating a solid foundation for the future.

Coming to My Thien, we feel the vitality of the new rural area gradually "changing its skin" every day here. One of the most obvious feelings is the change in traffic infrastructure.

My Thien commune focuses on promoting the application of science and technology in agricultural production.

Gone are the days of muddy, boggy roads, replaced by straight, clear asphalt roads through every village and alley.

Sharing with us, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, a resident of My Thien commune, said that in the past, when he was still in My Tan commune, Cai Be district, Tien Giang province (old), the State promoted the policy of building a new rural commune, the people in the commune were very supportive, voluntarily donating land to work with the government to build spacious and clean rural roads.

Thereby, people's awareness has clearly increased, they actively participate in classifying waste at source, planting flowers on the streets, and people's lives are increasingly improved.

In addition to improving traffic infrastructure, people in My Thien commune have also boldly changed the structure of crops and livestock to increase income. Mr. Tran Van Nam, a resident of My Thien commune, shared that the local government has boldly encouraged people to promote the conversion of crops and livestock; develop household economy ; encourage the construction and development of farm economy associated with vocational training and rural employment.

“People now not only focus on planting trees or raising livestock and poultry according to traditional experience but mainly apply science and technology to production. From choosing seeds, fertilizing, caring for and preventing diseases for crops and livestock, there are specific instructions.

Thanks to that, productivity increased, costs decreased, and people's income improved significantly. Everyone was excited and saw clearly the effectiveness of applying technical advances in daily agricultural life," said Mr. Tran Van Nam.

Moreover, the people in My Thien also clearly feel the government's attention to cultural life, health care and education. Ms. Le Thi Hong, a local resident, confided: "Over the past 4 months, cultural, artistic and sports activities have been regularly organized by the locality, helping people connect and preserve traditions.

The health stations and points in the commune are increasingly spacious, providing timely services when people are sick or ill. Children in the commune have a full education, school facilities have been upgraded, and teachers are dedicated to teaching. All of these things make us feel secure, excited, and confident in the sustainable development of the commune."

Thus, from infrastructure, economy to cultural and social life, people are unanimous and actively participate, creating a new vitality that "changes skin" every day in My Thien commune.

EFFORTS IN THE NEW CONTEXT

In recent times, with the high determination of the entire political system and the joint efforts and consensus of the people, local Party committees and authorities have made efforts to lead and direct the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction.

The plan and roadmap for developing criteria were implemented on schedule. The results before the merger showed that My Trung and Thien Trung communes maintained the NTM standards, while My Tan commune was recognized as a model NTM commune in 2024.

The economy of My Thien commune recorded a good growth. Fruit output reached 107,500 tons; rice output reached 50,144 tons; and crop output reached 45,320 tons. The commune has 3 OCOP products.

Average income per capita reached nearly 72.4 million VND, an increase of nearly 25 million VND compared to 2020. The rate of people participating in health insurance reached 93.4%. Total budget revenue reached 128.5 billion VND, reaching 119.3% of the set target. The locality created jobs for 4,515 workers, built and repaired 105 solidarity houses and gratitude houses, contributing to ensuring social security for people in the area.

Along with that, the economic and social infrastructure has been invested synchronously. The infrastructure of transportation, irrigation, electricity and schools has been upgraded, well meeting the needs of production and people's life.

Agricultural production gradually shifted towards commodities, clearly identifying key products. The collective economy remained stable, and business lines became increasingly diversified.

The cultural institution system has been repaired, upgraded and newly built, creating conditions to promote cultural and artistic movements and improve people's spiritual enjoyment.

After 5 years of implementing the Campaign “All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas”, the role of the people as masters has been strongly promoted. At the same time, the consensus and joint efforts to build a cultural life have created a clean and beautiful rural appearance.

Many creative models have appeared such as: Bright - green - clean - beautiful roads, model residential areas, "Clean houses - beautiful gardens" or "Household waste collection".

The whole commune has planted 35 flower routes with a total length of nearly 99,300 km; 6,055 households have registered to collect and treat waste at source; invested in building more than 33 km of rural traffic lighting system using solar energy...

According to the leader of the People's Committee of My Thien commune, in the coming time, the locality will focus on solutions to promote economic and social development. In particular, the commune will pay attention to promoting the application of science and technology in agricultural production, developing household economy associated with vocational training, creating more jobs for rural workers.

At the same time, the government focuses on supporting people to build effective production models, expand key products, move towards sustainable agriculture, and increase income for each household.

In addition, My Thien commune continues to upgrade its infrastructure of transportation, irrigation, electricity, schools and cultural institutions. Cultural and artistic movements, environmental protection and rural landscape construction will be maintained and expanded.

The goal is to create a spacious, green - clean - beautiful living space, improve the material and spiritual life of the people, and at the same time strongly promote the role of the people as the main subject in building sustainable new rural areas.

My Thien Commune is focusing on socio-economic development, creating clear changes in production, infrastructure and people's lives. These efforts help the locality gradually affirm its new direction after the merger, laying the foundation for sustainable development in the coming time.
