Adjusting the time of the planning competition for the "pearl" Binh Quoi - Thanh Da, Ho Chi Minh City
Because many domestic and foreign design consultants participated in the Thanh Da peninsula planning competition, the Department of Planning and Architecture proposed to adjust the competition time.
This content was stated by the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City in Document No. 2877/TTr-SQHKT sent to the City People's Committee on July 9 regarding the adjustment of the time to organize the international competition for planning and architectural ideas for the Binh Quoi - Thanh Da peninsula, Binh Thanh District.

The international competition for planning and architectural ideas for Binh Quoi - Thanh Da peninsula was launched by the Department of Planning and Architecture on June 24, 2024 and ended receiving registration documents on July 8, 2024.
The planning management unit of Ho Chi Minh City said that the competition has received attention from many domestic and foreign design consultants.
Many units sent comments to the Department of Planning and Architecture asking for an extension of the deadline for submitting application documents to participate in the competition in order to have the best preparation.
The Department of Planning and Architecture believes that extending the application submission deadline is reasonable, in order to create conditions for units to have more time to prepare more detailed and higher quality application documents.
Therefore, this unit proposed the City People's Committee to adjust the time of the competition. In particular, the deadline for receiving applications will be extended to July 17; the list of units registering to participate in the competition will be finalized and the preliminary selection (round 1) will be held on July 25.
On July 31, the results of round 1 and the list of 5 units selected for round 2 (based on capacity profiles and preliminary explanations of planning ideas) will be announced. The consulting units selected for round 2 will implement the competition plan for 8 weeks.
Ho Chi Minh City plans to organize the exam marking in mid-October and announce the results at the end of October 2024.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a "planning proposal" for the Binh Quoi-Thanh Da peninsula to become an ecological, sustainable and modern urban area, including planning parks and green areas of at least 200 hectares.
When planning, place the peninsula in the overall planning of the City with a focus on the Saigon River to study and propose planning ideas.
In addition, the planning must also propose a synchronous transportation system that connects smoothly with neighboring areas, especially the development of a green transportation system.
