Ta Trach Lake strengthens water regulation to cope with heavy rain

On November 29, the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 5 sent a notice to the Hue City Civil Defense Command and agencies, units and localities about regulating the Ta Trach reservoir to the downstream of the Huong River. Accordingly, based on the water level at 9:00 a.m. on November 29 reaching an elevation of + 43.41m, to ensure the safety of the project, contributing to reducing floods for the downstream area when there is heavy rain in the coming time, the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 5 regulates the Ta Trach reservoir through the surface discharge ceiling and hydroelectric turbine with a total discharge flow of 250 to 500 m3/s. The regulation will start at 3:00 p.m. on the same day.

According to the city's Hydrometeorological Station, from November 30 to December 1, due to the influence of the cold air strengthening combined with the edge of the tropical depression, there will be moderate rain in Hue city. From December 2 to 5, due to the influence of the weakened cold air strengthening, the sky will be cloudy with rain, scattered moderate rain, and heavy rain in some places. The total rainfall from November 29 to December 8 is commonly 150-300mm, in some places over 400mm.

Ta Trach Lake (Phu Bai Ward, Hue City) is located on Ta Trach River - a main branch of the Huong River system, with a basin area of ​​717km2 and a lake capacity of 509.8 million m3. In addition to its power generation function, the lake also has the function of preventing minor floods, early floods, and reducing main-season floods for the Huong River system; Providing water for daily life and industry; Creating a stable source of irrigation water for cultivated land in the Huong River Delta and supplementing freshwater for the downstream of the Huong River to repel salinity, improve the lagoon environment, and serve aquaculture.
