On the afternoon of November 13, a delegation of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense led by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense, visited the Hill 82 Martyrs' Cemetery in Tay Ninh on the occasion of the second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

The delegation included Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army...

Also joining the delegation were Tay Ninh Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quyet and a number of provincial leaders.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, the delegation and delegates respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the country, to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Fatherland.

Hill 82 Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of more than 15,000 martyrs from all over the country who sacrificed their lives in the resistance war against America to save the country and to fulfill international duty.

At the cemetery, there are also many memorial areas for martyrs from different sectors and professions such as: Central Economic and Financial Department of the Southern Region; education; youth volunteers; officers and soldiers of the southern military and medical forces; armed police forces...

Over the years, the remains of thousands of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia during the war have been gathered and brought back here for memorial services and burial.

This is a project expressing the gratitude of the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people to the beloved children across the country who did not spare their blood and bones for the cause of national liberation; it is a project of great significance in terms of historical, cultural, spiritual values, especially educational values.

This place regularly organizes activities of origin tourism, candle lighting in gratitude, political education, traditions, helping the young generation remember the contributions of previous generations. From there, they will better understand the value of peace, raise awareness and responsibility to build and protect the Fatherland today.

In 2024, Tay Ninh province approved and started implementing the project to upgrade the Hill 82 Martyrs Cemetery with a total estimated investment of more than 204 billion VND, of which the Central Government supported 160 billion VND, the rest was balanced from the provincial budget. According to this project, the cemetery grounds will be upgraded and expanded on an area of ​​about 31.9 hectares, expected to be completed in 2027.

The upgrading and renovation of Hill 82 Martyrs' Cemetery is to match its scale, historical stature and the noble sacrifice of the heroic martyrs.

The project is developed synchronously, connecting and effectively exploiting the tourism route to the national relic source such as: Southern Central Bureau Base, border gate tourism (Xa Mat international border gate, Tan Nam international border gate, Chang Riec border gate), eco-tourism of Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park, Ba Den Mountain, Tay Ninh Holy See on National Highway 22B, forming a complex of revolutionary historical relics, eco-tourism, spirituality of the journey to the source to contribute to the development of tourism in Tay Ninh province.

On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang and the delegation presented gifts from the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and the Military Region 7 Command to the Management Board of the Hill 82 Martyrs' Cemetery.
